This was my second time at Red Tavern. I love the decor of the place, but I wish the servers were more friendly. I speak quite a bit of Russian, but our waitress did not want to engage in that way. We ordered a bottle of semi-dry Sovietskoe Champagne and split three different dishes. The best was the zucchini pancakes; meanwhile, the chicken shashlik served with kasha was ho-hum.

I was very sad to learn that they don’t support Ukraine.

Amazing food, service, everything!!! Real authentic Eastern European food!

Need a better selection of teas. No herbal teas or fine black teas to go with blinis

We were in SF for a conference and I didn’t want to leave without getting a good Russian meal. I was not disappointed and the Uber ride was worth it. The food was amazing! The golubzty was outstanding as was the pelmeni appetizer. My friend had chicken shashlyk, which she also loved. The big surprise here was the Georgian wines. We really enjoyed them as they were fruitful and not dry. Definitely will be back when I’m in the area.

Great ambience and food. Glad that it is opening up again.

Red Tavern bills itself as a Russian restaurant and it is. Menu, staff, all authentic. However, I found menu to be somewhat lacking. Sure, some Russian cuisine staples are there, but the variety is not the greatest. However, food quality was good, price was right, and the place was quiet so we could have a nice conversation going.

The best Russian food outside fo Russia!Stop by for a bite, I can guarantee you will enjoy it.Covid Conscious.

We picked this place for our New Year celebration dinner. The service was great and the young lady was very nice. As a half Ukrainian, I know how bad so-called Soviet customer service could be and I was expecting the same here. But I was surprised and I thank them for that. The food was also really good. Good portions (not too big but also not small) and the taste was authentic. We got borsh, golubtsi, schnitzel as well as napoleon cake and blini for dessert. All was really good and very nice presentation.Yes, prices are a bit steep, but that's also the city. Interior was very nice and art was cool. Music was great and took me back to Ukraine days :) thank you for the great experience, Red Tavern!
