Friendly incredibly knowledgeable chefs and staff, delicious food, lovely sake, and wonderful conversation. I took my partner here for our anniversary and we both had an excellent time, they even gave us a little anniversary gift after the meal!

The quality of sushi has declined since changing chefs and the fun atmosphere has been replaced with a more disorganized rush. The fish itself is excellent, but the rice is lacking and the nigiri is missing the cohesion of a top quality shop that I would expect with this price range. I also detected slightly less soy sauce than I would want. The hot dishes were excellent and the sake is good for the price. The chef speaks and mumbles softly and does not explain the preparation. We went early in the evening and they were out of beer. We ordered extra pieces at the end and they were served all at once, mixed up, and we were rushed out. This was once one of my top 3 sushi places in SF but no longer.

If you're used to good sushi, the place will be underwhelming. The fish is ok but probably not worth the price. They even give you a spoon in plastic for the desert!

Absolutely delicious. I was in SF for a few nights and decided to treat myself. Booking for one was easy and as the venue is so tiny, sitting at the bar felt fine. Every round was incredible, with the black cod being one of the best thing i’ve ever eaten. The chefs were mesmerising to watch and we ended the meal sharing a drink of sake.

All dishes were well executed. Portion sizes were kinda small. I could eat another tray of takoyaki after the meal. I ordered the middle price option which I did not regret. I didn’t care for the extras that come with the more expensive one (beef, uni, duck and a few others).

My friend, visiting out of town, and I were strolling around the plaza searching for a small bite when we noticed this little place was open. I’ve always wanted to try it, but found out about it too late - when the pandemic closed everything! When we asked if they were open, they said yes but their reservations were full. The host checked in with the chef, and they said we could do a la carte if it was quick. I appreciated the communication & accommodation so much. We ordered the negi toro hand roll (which was stellar, the perfect combination of umami - sweet, salty, and fresh), hotate (scallop was delicious with a touch of citrus), and ama ebi (sweet and creamy, I just wish it included the deep fried head hehe ?). We asked for a few more recommendations by the chef - he was so kind and quick - preparing us the Kurodai, Ebodai, and Kinmedai. All fish I usually don’t try. I loved the smokiness from the slight torching on top!! I wanted more ?thank you for making our night and accommodating us so spontaneously. I can’t wait to come back and try their full omakase sometime :)

It was a fun experience but...It's over priced. The was good but not extravagant making the $165 PER person way too much. We didn't get anything extra because of the check at the end. It was a nice experience but don't come with more than two people otherwise it's harder to talk to one another and pay the bill.

The Best Japanese dining experience you can have outside of Japan. Go. Now.

Sushi nigiris are excellent but the rest is mediocre. This was my 2nd time there but the first time was so delicious I had to come back. However this time the experience was quite a disappointment. There were two people behind the counter. One was the chef and the other the sous chef but he had a pair of black rubber glove on his right hand serving the food over the counter and preparing some dishes. It’s probably for hygiene purposes but I’ve never experienced this at an omakase. Compared to other omakases it’s not worth the high price. I also think they changed ownership

A very rude and unprofessional HostAfter an afternoon of watching movies at the Kabuki Theatre my wife and I decided to dine at one of the restaurants in Japantown Mall . We were surprised to find the place was packed with diners and the waitlists were too long. That is when we noticed a hole in the wall , awkward looking casual diner. The place was nearly empty with 2 people sitting on the counter, so we approached the host to ask for 2 seats although we were on time for the first seating,6:10pm , we were immediately and with no explanation rejected however she offered us a seating at 7:45pm with a guarantee of a credit card , with no other choice available we agreed , however upon our return which was over 1 and a half hour later she refused to offer our seats with a very bizarre excuse which was she promised our seats to another couple that made reservations with her admittance after ours , we tried to explain to her that we came on time we had the reservation booked before them and she had our credit card number as guarantee that is when she became extremely rude and offensive and she asked us to leave, needless to say this was the worst and rudest host I ever encountered for the last 40 years of living in our city and I'll never go back to this dive.
