Amazing food and wine selection, the most amazing for us was the morel toast, lamb riblets, and the Eton Mess for dessert. Great service both in helping pick out a wine as well as all evening long.
Extraordinary food! A must stop for foodies interested in exceptional quality and sophisticated cuisine.
Service was excellent. Food was good. Portion sizes were a bit small. Went home and had something more to eat. Would recommend it. Slightly larger portion sizes would go a long way to feeling better about value.
A friend’s birthday. Lovely evening, delicious food, thoughtful and attentive service.
The service was excellent and extremely professional. We were not impressed by the food. It was delicious and healthy, but everything we ordered we could have made at home. There was nothing outstanding to say “Wow”. We could have made this meal at home for a lot less money. We know gourmet food and this wasn’t it. So sorry. Not in the habit of giving a negative review, but just being honest.
Visiting from out of town, had no idea that outside was sitting in this little box they made outside. It was super windy and cold, and they said they said year-round outside in San Francisco, but for visitors who aren’t calibrated to the weather, it’s not a fun experience, nor should the restaurant make their guests sit outside in the windy cold. This really detracted from our experience.
Just wonderful, friendly, delicious experience. We had a wonderful meal. Thank you!!
Service was great and food is delicious. Best value for a Michelin star restaurant
We had a wonderful experience at Octavia. The host went out of his way to be accommodating on a chilly SF evening, the waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, and the food was creative and delicious. A neighborhood gem!
Octavia is the sister restaurant to Frances, my favorite restaurant in the world. Octavia feels a lot like Frances -- similar concept of creative dishes with unique ingredients, and a similar approach to the menu (family style small plates etc). The food was excellent, as you'd expect from this crew. There were inventive twists on classics, like roasted potatoes using seaweed ranch and new cucumbers, or shishito peppers with zatar and feta. But beyond the unique and satisfying food, the team went above and beyond. They somehow knew I used to visit Frances, that I was visiting from New York, and which wines I liked. I assume they keep good notes and review them with reservations, but using that info helped me feel special and at home. The vibe is laid back, upscale yet casual, and somehow unpretentious despite the uniqueness of star ingredients and quality of food. If I lived in SF, Octavia would be a staple for me.
