This place was recommended by a college friend for dinner since I was craving sushi. Quite a simple menu but when the final delivery came it was quite a surprise.I managed to finish off my serving. It was quite packed, hence we could barley hear each other tall even when we weren’t loud.

This place is great but there are a couple of points you need to be aware of. First is that they've changed their menu after covid and they do not serve many of their famous dishes anymore. No ray ray's tako and wagyu tartare. They still have the omakase which is absolutely tasty (but pricey ). Second is that they are super busy on weekends and you need to rsvp for large groups. We were only two and were seated immediately

Amazing service as always, I was surprised my server remembered me from months ago. While I didn’t get her name, she’s been my server 2x and is extremely kind. I sat at the bar solo a few weeks ago and loved everything from my topped-off champagne, service, interaction with sushi chefs and server. Although crowded every time, service is extremely attentive. I always order the hamachi truffle and boss roll. My husband and I went on a Saturday night (extremely busy! ) wait listed at 120 mins minimum for a table and I called earlier that evening asking if they had room for 2, I was sat quickly and no wait right before the rush. Complete luck!Fish is always fresh & rice on sushi is never dry. Sake list has an abundance of options. So lucky to have this in my neighborhood just blocks away.I highly recommend Nara if you’re in the lower Haight neighborhood. The rolls are more complex and for adults vs than kids who like California rolls/phili/ avocado maki etc. An upbeat environment with class.

Very tasty and well presented! A bit pricey as others have mentioned but would come back again.

On Thursdays they cut up a whole tuna and have fatty tuna neck nigiri and hand rolls available

Such a cute restaurant with a great ambiance! My friend and I came here for dinner and there wasn’t too much of a wait but we did come in early. We ordered the hamachi truffle and the sushi omakase dinner. The hamachi was amazing and melts in your mouth! All the fish from the omakase was very fresh. It was a little on the pricier side but definitely worth it.

Great atmosphere. Great sushi ? Definitely coming back next time I'm in San Francisco.

Bryan was AMAZING, HE MADE OUR DINNER SPECTACULAR. From his recommendations to his humor and charismatic service. We all had a wonderful evening and I will be coming back again with more friends. I highly recommend this place.

Excellent sushi! The rolls were perfectly balanced, the fish was super fresh, and the service was great! I highly recommend coming to Nara if you are a tourist or a local. Great value for the quality of sushi!

A bit hard to find parking, but the food is delicious.
