Japanese Izakaya Tapas/Small Plates

Moku is a tiny spot with big flavors. We had the pork belly, wagyu, sake chicken, okra, king oyster mushroom, and eggplant yakitori. They let the ingredients speak for themselves, each cooked to perfection. One of those stunningly simple, perfect bite with every bite type of place.

TempA hole in the wall Japanese BBQ place that focuses on skewers.Food: 8/10, Ambience: 7/10, Service: 8/10, Price: 8/10.Fave: tofu with chilli oil, scallops, eggplant, mochi and pork cheeks (though could use some salt)We also got:- beef tongue (half are way too chewy, one skewer was salted way too lightly)- Okra (gf liked it, I never did)- Chicken wings (smelled great, but heavily burnt so it’s bitter, prob good flavour but can’t tell)- Bacon Tomato: tastes surprisingly good, but bacon ran out, so it’s just tomato - same price though- Fried octopus legs: as expected - a bit oily with just mayoAmbience: see pics for yourself. Yes those anime figures belong to the shop.Price: the portion is fairly large for this kind of shop. Two of us (one girl and guy) were super full after, and it costed us $100 with tips included.Service: as expected, they ain’t gonna come around like traditional western restaurants but it’s a izakaya/ yakitori style.Last, their shop is small, seats are limited. No takeout or delivery. No phone or website.Menu took as of may 29, 2022

Fun place to eat! A small lively space with a great selection of skewers. I didn't have a problem with any of them (I didn't eat any beef, but the pork belly, jowl, cheek were all great, chicken skin was great, and they have scallops too). I just wish there were more sake options (for people who don't want to drink an entire bottle). They also have sick specials. When I went they had uni from Hokkaido.

There is not a better food experience in San Francisco. Sure there is equal, but not better. The smoke off the grill mixes with the ocean spray off the TV showing big wave surfing bouncing off the Drake beats - all mix to make the quintessential bites of veg // meat + fire a remarkable experience. Add this joint to your essential SF list.

This place was really good! Meats were nice and juicy and flavorful especially the pork jowl and chicken thigh. The oyster mushrooms were so juicy and eggplants were really good too. Everything we got came out very quickly and was very delicious. The owner Daniel was super friendly and easy to talk to. It is definitely worth taking the trip out to the Richmond area for a bite.It is sure to get popular real quick :)

Excellent!

Neighborhood gem. Almost don’t want to post given limited seating but these guys deserve all 5 stars. Hamachi carpaccio and the perfectly seasoned grilled zucchini were standouts.

We've come here three times in the last month already! Great menu, high quality ingredients, and you can tell the owners care so much about the food and experience. Everything from the Yakitori/skewers to the hot items, sashimi, and drinks are delicious. They don't take takeout or reservations but we always come before 6pm and can always get a seat. They're really good about checking vaccination cards and I like that they keep the door open for ventilation.

So excited to see a yakitori spot open in the Richmond. The Moku team does an amazing job with fantastic flavors, cooked to perfection and phenomenal hospitality. Can’t say enough good things and will definitely be back again soon!

Friendly and homey experience
