We arrived on a Monday evening around 6pm and were seated promptly without any reservation. As soon as we sat down, we were served water, a generous offering of about 5 pieces of warm/hot bread, and a plate of basil and raw onion. Our Persian friend ordered the ghrome sabzee lamb shank, koobideh kebabs, filet steak, mast-o-musir, and baba ghanoush.I had their Persian Martini, which contains pomegranate juice and bits of lime. Very refreshing! The grilled khoobideh kebabs are made with coarsely ground beef, lamb and chopped onions. The meat reminded me of Japanese "tsukune"! :-) The meatball kebab was seasoned nicely and very juicy and was served with a hot, roasted tomato, and a healthy serving of lightly seasoned fluffy rice on large plates. My only gripe is that the breads were slightly over baked on one side, so the consistency of one half of the pita bread was crispy and stuck together instead of being warm, spongy and chewy. It was a bit like a soda bread cracker.Overall, though, I found the food to be delicious, not overly seasoned, and the portions were sizable enough to take half of my rice and kebab back home. The ambiance is nice with some Middle Eastern background music. Service was professional, but I wish there was less dish clatter by the bussers. There are other dishes on the menu that I didn't get to try this time that I want to try next time, so I'll be back.
I can’t recommend it at all. You can easily have better Iranian canned foods. We had Fesenjoon and the paste and walnuts were not cooked enough at all! It was too sweet, and tasted awfully. We had Bademjoon as well, and the shank wasn’t tasty either. Koobideh was just not bad, jooje was acceptable. Customer service was pretty awful too! We had to ask for water several times!
Fesenjoon was not cooked well and the shank in Bademjoon was uncooked as well. Customer service behavior was not professional at all. I’m not recommending it at all.
we were at the Fairmont for a seminar and needed to find a lunch place. I'm carb reduced and the few options nearby were going to be a salad only option for lunch. I've been going to Maykadeh for 30ish years, so I suggested it. I had 2 side koobideh skewers (no rice)and my companions chose ghorme sabzi and khoresht badmjan. Everyone was really happy with the lunch and one companion had the pear, ice cream, and raspberry sauce for dessert
Food is nice. My only gripe here is that online they have one set of prices. On the door outside, there’s another set of prices and when you sit down as you would guess there’s another set, and of course, I paid the highest of the lot. For perspective there’s an $8 dollar difference for my meal on the door vs inside menu. I paid and tipped etc. no complaints but it doesn’t feel right. Probably won’t eat here again.
It is De number one Persian food in California or in America might say incredible service very good quality food I just wish they would bring back their lame tongue because sometimes they’re out of it the dishes are out of this world you should definitely try
Visited on new years day on the recommendation of one of my employees, a Persian whose favorite Persian restaurant is this place. I tried some dishes I've never had, and some that I have had before. I enjoyed the food and the recommendations from the staff, and everyone is friendly and I think the majority of the clientele there while I was visiting was Persian, and I'll definitely be back.
The food at Meykadrh restaurant is exceptional! Very tasty and well prepared and you can chose among many menu options. I love the service at the place and I highly recommend this place.
I was recently able to return to this restaurant after many years. It was always a sure thing pleases everyone kinda place. And North Beach Telegraph Hill is a pretty nice area. We chose to sit outdoors on a beautiful November day. The menu was more or less unchanged, Grilled meats of all kinds, seafood, stews, tongue, liver and brain, plenty of vegetables. A solid wine list for the cuisine and prices that all in all are value in San Francisco. Salad, yoghurt, Lamb chops and steak with fixin's and bread. The rice here is light and airy and topped with saffron rice, Yum. Most home grilling isn't half this good. I hope to return again much sooner
The ambiance was wonderful, the olives and feta appetizers delicious, my parents meals were great, but the Ghorme Sabzee I had was absolutely off-putting
