Came here twice and it is quite tasty. Had the pork and beef versions of their soup/udon and both were great. Only detail is I found the pork one a little salty, the beef one was perfect tho. Very good location!
This review is coming from someone who tried Marugame Udon for the first time and became a fan. I tried the number 7 udon cooked in beef stock, it was delicious. The flavous are just apt (not too blamd, not too spicy) which qualifies Udon for a full meal.I ordered a large bowl and wasn’t able to finish the whole, if someone has a medium appetite might like to opt for a regular bowl to avoid food wastage.
Great staff who were helpful even during busy lines and amazing good with generous portion for a decent price mark. This was my second time eating here the the quality of the food and service was just as good. Specifically for the tempuras, the consistency in quality of the fry batter, the meat cut, and ingredients themselves, help contrast and complement the main udon dish. Very rewarding after good amount of exercise
We came here for an early dinner and the queue moved quite fast (max 5min). I was craving for some fish roe udon so ordered the mentai (large) and it was delicious! We also ordered the tonkotsu and it was tasty too! After not eating out for a long time, I do find the taste to be a tad saltier than I'd like. The layout of the restaurant has a more food court feel inside. There's plenty of seating inside and out. We didn't get any tempura because the batter seemed quite thick. Will definitely come back if it is not too busy.
The udon texture is different from what I used to get back in Asia, but can’t complain much since I’m just a big udon fan, so I’ll still come back once in a while :)
This is the best udon I have had outside of Japan. They prepare the noodles fresh for you and have really tasty sides and fried food to go along with your noodles. There is often a wait but the line move quickly and it’s worth it. For anyone that loves a good chewy noodle this place is a must try.
I'm usually not a huge fan of udon but Marugame has it down. I had the curry nikutama udon $14. They drenched it this delicious curry sauce/broth. Thick! I love how you can add tempura bits and green onions as toppings. The other attribute I love about this place is the self service tempura station. It reminded me of mall restaurants in Japan. The line moves fast because it isn't a traditional sit down restaurant where you have to wait for a waiter etc. This was indefinitely a good change of pace and a good meal.
really good chewy udon! cafeteria style grab a tray, move it along the line, pay, grab your sauces/utensil/napkin, eat, and return tray to the back when done. indoor and outdoor seating. long line during busy hours, but not as crazy as waikiki. onigiris and drinks at the register.
It's authentic and delicious Udon!!!Udon noodles were nice and chewy.Super filling and quick service. The price is reasonable for what it is and how much they give.Love their udon!!??
So we finally tried out this hyped hand-made udon shop. All of my family loves udon so we were in high hopes. The long line in front was quite a discouraging start and they could've definitely employed more technology to not have people shiver outside. Fortunately it wasn't too cold but again, no one loves standing in lines. The line did move at a brisk pace though. However, all was forgiven when I saw the actually freshly pulled udons, then gently boiled and prepared. I loved the limited menu choices as that typically shows efficiency and focus. All the udon bowls start with the noodle as a base, adding in a soy dashi concentrate which in turn makes it a bit on the saltier side. These udons aren't the ones with abundance in soup. The soup is just enough to keep the udon dipped, just for the flavor. Either way, it was quite tasty. They didn't go small on the beef on top as well. Another highlight was the potato croquettes. Very well fried and the inside was super soft. But these turned out more to be on the blander side. The original chain and intentions of the store / brand was clearly felt. But I do believe whoever is running this branch needs to make sure it doesn't drift too far. Yes, it is udon prepared like fast food, and it does a way better job providing a hearty meal at a reasonable price. Hence the 5 stars. Now, are they the best udon in the world? Definitely not by far. Are they worth the fast food experience? Absolutely yes.
