It is a bit pricey, but considering the location and the taste, it can be justified. The service is hard to describe, probably understaffed. We have to call for water, ask for wasabi and ginger, and we ordered 7 pieces of nigiri, 5was served first, and had to wait for another 20min plus to ask for the check to get the remaining 2 pieces.

We ordered a few small dishes to share and everything was quite good! The crab salad was very refreshing, the marinated cod was small but so tender and well seasoned. Also do get their skewers, we got one of their beef ones and it was delicious!

Quality fish, rice was perfect. Small low light setting with not too many seating. A tad on the pricier side but worth the higher quality.

What I appreciated most about Machiya was the service and attentiveness of staff here— you could want for nothing more in a dining experience!! My water glass was constantly filled, staff asked throughout my meal if everything was ok and if I needed anything. Fish was very fresh, menu was diverse including featured specials of fresh special sashimi offerings like any great sushi place would have, fried squid was fresh made to order, takowasabi was generous. Plating was thoughtful and precise. Care is taken at every step here. Visited during the week around 6pm, place filled up but still was able to accommodate a family with a stroller tableside. Bathrooms were also very clean and pleasant which is a great sign of somewhere that takes pride in their business. Thank you Machiya for the meticulous and wonderful dinner! I will be back again soon!

The Omikase is delightful. Their attention to detail made for a magical experience. My partner and I love this place. Their fish selection is on par with the other high end sushi places. Munk fish liver was a surprise and melted in my mouth. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Wow, what a great find. High quality fish at very reasonable prices. We had the blackened albacore tuna and dragon rolls. Both excellent, especially the tuna, which has a savory slightly garlicky flavor. The wakame seaweed salad has proper kelp rather than that cheap chopped stuff most sushi restaurants offer. They also had a really good Japanese wheat beer, Echigo, which was quite good. Even the mochi ice cream was good. My only criticism is that most of the specialty rolls were spicy which I don’t like, but otherwise we will definitely be back. ?

Amazing food and super nice ambiance. The nigiri and rolls as well as the seared salmon appetizer was amazing. Highly recommend! Please check it out and support this small business!

Awesome restaurant. The fish was so fresh. The signature rolls were great and the special nigiri were too. Some of the best sawara I've had. I hope this place becomes more popular, because it's one of the best sushi spots in the city. Please support this business!

I would definitely recommend this sushi restaurant. The service was excellent, the miso soup was flavorful and full of mushrooms, tofu and kelp. All three rolls were fantastic and very fresh. The salmon atop the Rising Sun roll just melted in my mouth, so we ordered another. The soft shell crab was cooked perfectly.

Fresh sushi, cold beer, warm sake, and an amazing service! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience than tonight at Machiya! Highly recommend this new spot ❤️
