One of the best sandwiches I’ve had and the place that officially introduced me to Dutch crunch bread…..how did I live so long without it?
If your vegetarian DONT ever eat here! My fiancé received her sandwich covered in a sauce she asked not to put on there and after removing the sauce, she bit in only to find Multiple Pieces of Meat were laid in there as well. Horrible customer service as we called to ask what happened they blamed the delivery driver! The sandwiches were labeled correctly when we got them. Lous messed up and wouldn’t apologize. Don’t eat here. Ever.
I was told that they had good sandwiches. I’ll never know, based on the experience that I had yesterday. The number of people waiting for their orders indicated that they are worth waiting around for, in a crowded and small space. After taking your order, you’re not given a receipt. I asked how would I know when my order is ready; would they just yell out “Two veggie!”? Because I paid with a credit card, they had my name, was her response. Ok. I waited as many delivery drivers came in and got their orders, after wading through such a disorganized method of distribution. The nice man called my name and off we went eager to enjoy our late lunch. We were given two different kinds of meat sandwiches and went back hoping to get them replaced. She insisted that I said Italian Special and not Veggie. Apparently, Italian Special means they give you one ham and one turkey sandwich. Finally, I got her to give me a refund. They were incredibly busy, but their procedure could use a great deal of improvement.

Absolutely fantastic. These guys are rockstars! Sandwiches are delicious and come out pretty fast despite how constantly busy they are. These sandos are fully loaded and everything always tastes super fresh. Love coming here
Probably the best sandwiches I've ever had! Sooo fresh and good. I wish every sandwich I have for the rest of my life tastes exactly like Lou's Italian!
Sandwiches are delicious and well sized. If you come during the lunch hour, be prepared to wait. I would recommend calling in your order if you plan to drop by during the busy hour.
Delicious full size sandwiches with a unique Tangy spread. I got the Italian special and it had quite a bit of meat and cheese in it. My partner got the tuna melt. The sandwiches were on Dutch crunch rolls. They are large enough to share. Their special sauce has jalapenos in it. It's not too spicy.
Honestly disappointed. I've been coming here on and off for years, but haven't ordered from them in a few years. The quality seems to have slipped. Cobb salad was way salty, using cheap bacon bits. Tuna sandwich I ordered was decent. My girlfriends sandwich had wilted lettuce and a skimpy serving of tomato, onion, and turkey even though we ordered extra. I'm sorry to say that this old neighborhood spot that I used to frequently enjoy has slipped into the growing category of restaurants in San Francisco that are cutting corners and playing games with their food and customers.
This place is amazing! Easily the best sandwich spot in SF. I have been coming here for ten years and I am on a quest to try every single sandwich on the menu.This time I ordered the Risky Bizness and it was great!! The pastrami and crab went well together. The peppercinis were a nice addition!
