A very cute date location! Unfortunately we went on a day where it was just super windy but I still very much enjoyed the experience.Good:Very cool location - a 3 min walk from the caltrain and easy to get to! I loved how we went up to the top floor of the hotel to get here.Solid unique dishes - my fave was the empanadas- lots of food and good texture each bite.Fun drinks too - all anime inspired and I liked the space adventure cowboy. The beef tataki was good too!Bad:Didn’t like the squid ink ceviche very much - kind of a gooey texture.Overall a beautiful place to watch the sunset and get a date! Make a rez a month in advance,

Very cool spot with a cool view. To be honest the service was one of the slowest I have ever experienced as we waited forever to get drinks at the bar. They were really nice and to be fair it was on Friday after the Warriors won. I think that’s why it averages 4 stars but I don’t think it’s the bartenders fault as they seemed understaffed. I honestly wouldn’t come back unless it was on a weekday to avoid the slow service. As it being packed inside it was difficult to move around as the bar sits basically in the middle, then when you go to the outside part you have to go passed the bar and that is also where the bathroom is right around the corner. They had an open area under construction by the bathrooms that you got to outside and I would suggest setting up a smaller half bar there where people can just quickly come up and grab a beer, shots or basic drinks. They probably would make way more money that way and it would require minimum effort while also reducing the congestion from the main and only bar. Great experience overall but I would avoid this place at all cost on the weekend if you want average to fast service.

May 2022:Grabbed an early dinner here on a Saturday late afternoon. Weather was sunny and a bit windy. This rooftop bar/restaurant is located on the 12th floor. This was after a SF Giants vs San Diego Padres game so it was very crowded. If we didn't have a reservation, you have to wait outside at a line to get up to the bar.Once upstairs, you get a great view of the skyline. We had some drinks and the hamachi tiradito, the Kaiyo house sushi roll, and the Lima sushi roll. All the food was really tasty and I would come back just for the food! The views are a bonus ?.Service was very warm. Our server was really nice and friendly.Would definitely come back again for the spectacular view and sushi!

Sushi apps and Japanese whiskey old fashioned

Do not go without reservation!!Waiting outside of the hotel for 30 minutes when it’s windy can be a little annoying. We finally got to the roof top.The place is beautiful and the city view is amazing. I would recommend to see the sunset with some drinks and stay for dinner. We asked for a table and it was fully booked. They don’t serve food at the bar. So, we had some drinks Akko and pisco sour they were good.Definitely the view is the best but be prepared for a super windy date!Take an extra coat on top of the one you were thinking

We went there on a Saturday afternoon without a reservation. We waited in the queue for 45 minutes without any explanation or approximately waiting time.Going up there is a BIG issue with the elevators. The hotel has 3 and only 1 goes to the rooftop. We waited for the elevator A LOT and employees there were lost on how to fix it.When we got to the rooftop a very rude host told us that there was no place to eat while the whole restaurant part was EMPTY. We asked if we could had some food in the bar, and it wasn’t possible. We had a pisco sour and an old fashioned. The pisco sour was ok, had better ones. The one in LaMar is much better.Old fashioned was ok but tasted a bit weird.Drinks are expensive!! We had 2 drinks and it was 36 without tax or tip.Place is very windy and cold, same as the line for the queue. They could put more heaters or offer a better service. A bar where drinks are that expensive should offer a better experience.

Very mixed reviews from our party!I arrived with one other, we ordered, our food came, quite separately but still its tapas style so that was OK, food tasted delicious. Waitress was great!!A third person joined us, who waited over 40 mins for her small tapas dish, and then a fourth and fifth person joined....they ended up having to leave in order to eat.The two originals (including me) stayed for another drink. We were then given the third persons food (who had left to get fed) complimentary, which was lovely! On complaint they were very apologetic.Views are fantastic!About 15 mins later I was ill and got sick. Not 100% sure that was KAIYO's fault because my colleague was fine.

If you have been looking for a new take on Japanese fusion cuisine with an amazing view, then look no further! Kaiyo offers an amazing array of ceviche, tiradito, sushi, and cocktails that will be sure to excite your pallete. I highly recommend the scallop ceviche which is served in dark squid ink. The pork bao buns were also amazing where the buns were light enough to elevate the flavors of the marinated pork. However, because Kaiyo is a rooftop restaurant, I recommend dressing warmly to protect yourself from the fog and occasional wind. Overall Kaiyo was an amazing dining experience and I will definitely be back!

Food was good, like their other location. I really liked the Scallop Tiradito and Lima Roll. Service could be improved. Our server took too long to take our food order after we got our drinks. We also got a new server and they never informed us. It was super windy and cold, so that kind of ruined the experience for us.
