Been going here all the time to pick up food since the pandemic and it's always great. Popcorn chicken and pork belly gua bao is definitely a fave. Havent' tried most of the other menu items, but I enjoy what I get.
Open until 10pm, Hodala serves a good selection of Taiwanese beers and food. I had the popcorn chicken $8 and squid on teppan (metal plate) $18. Both tasted fine. The squid was so big, it didn't quite fit the teppan without cutting it in half. I enjoy the tentacles more than the rings because they were crispier. The body of the squid was chewy. They have scissors to cut the squid. It is better than a knife. The noodles were not great. It broke up when I tried to use chopsticks on them. Salty. The ordering system is through their app. Service was fine.
Today I ordered an appetitizer that no one normally ordered it, fried swordfish sticks. And it's pretty good. I also had braised beef noodle and peach green tea. Surprisingly I also had grass jelly for dessert. I enjoyed their food and services. The prices of the food are reasonable.
Unbelievable Taiwanese cuisine! The store would be recommended if my friend want to taste some local Taiwanese food. Will visit this place every week if I live nearby.
Food is good but they didn’t offer dine in on a Thursday night. Not sure as to why they didn’t
One of the best authentic Taiwanese street food in town. Best if you go with someone who knows Taiwan food tho.
Authentic Taiwanese cuisine, incredible beef noodle and pork rib rice, so many other things to explore! Reminds you of the night market in Taiwan.
Taiwanese food. Overall experience was okay.
This place will slap you in the face with its Taiwanese aesthetic, and I’m all for it.The first thing you’ll notice when you walk in is a literal shrine to Taiwan. Taiwanese beer, candy, snacks, and even Taiwanese coke. Also of note is the seating which consists of movie theater seats and classic wooden tables. But onto the food. I had the sizzling plate noodles and the beef noodle soup. To be honest, it’s not as good as the ridiculously good food in Taiwan. But is it comparable? Yes. Does it have all of the right flavor notes? Yes. Do the hot noodles and cold San Francisco breeze right outside make you feel all cozy inside, and nostalgic for a childhood you never had? Absolutely.
Amazing wonton soup! Some of the best I’ve had in SF
