Making a reservation is helpful but not necessary. In my group, two of us ordered the waffles and chicken and the other had the pork chops. I was amazed at how much food came with the pork chops. The waffles and chicken was ok. I was disappointed by the size of the waffle because I was expecting a Belgium waffle. Overall, I would go back and try a different menu item.

This is the BEST restaurant! Our family which includes twin 14 old boys who are always hungry couldnât even finish their plates! Thatâs how large the portions are. Everything was absolutely delicious! We canât wait to have our leftovers. Run donât walk to Hard Knox!
Nice neighborhood gem if you want quality fried chicken, greens and corn muffins. I always order the fried snapper and it never disappoints.

Friendly people, energetic welcoming place to come with group or even on your own. We've been having our small group birthday celebration, for years. They are so nice and accommodating. And our waiter, so patient, joyful, and professional, despite it was getting busy. The staff and their great food, and lots of it - makes us want to come back again. The only downside, is parking around lunchtime. Had to go around blocks several times, to park couple blocks away, at a meter parking.
We love the Hard Knox Cafe on Clement St. Since it has outdoor dining, we go more often. The service is always exceptional, friendly and efficient - everyone has a smile. The food is comfort food, plentiful, delicious and always great. When we come to San Francisco from the south bay for lunch or dinner, with family or friends, it's always Hard Knox Cafe, for several years now, and we'll keep on coming. Hope one day it will bring back its absolutely delicious sweet potato pie :). Thank you Hard Knox Cafe!
Dave and the entire team was welcoming. The food was delicious! Out table had the pull pork tacos, fried chicken, hamburgers, Mac and cheese. The corn bread was warm. Thank you so much! We will be back!
