A tasty sandwich, salad, and pre-made pasta selection is quickly overshadowed by the price (+ applicable taxes). We ordered the eggplant parm and a pesto pasta, which were both good, but not nearly worth the price. The eggplant parm began to fall apart before we could start to bite into it and the lack of burrata left a bit to be desired. The pasta was great, the little crunchy pepitas were a nice touch. A great outdoor seating area was shrouded by refuse and soiled clothing on the street.
They are blocking the entire sidewalk with outdoor seating. It's rude and inaccessible. A terrible look.Update: edited to five stars based on the response. Thanks for being good neighbors!
Flour & Water Pasta Shop makes good little sandwiches. We had their salumi (Italian combo) $18 and Philly roast porchetta $19 for lunch. My friend and I swapped 1/2 of our sandwiches so we can have both. The Italian combo sandwich wasn't bad. The bread was a little tough and might have been toasted too long. It could have used more of a variety of meats such as capicola, prosciutto or even salami. Instead this sandwich only had mortadella and ham. They used iceberg lettuce and that was boring. Arugula and Italian meats would have been bomb. The little Philly roast porchetta was also not bad. I liked how there were little pieces of sweet friarelli peppers in there. We also wanted to get the cheese and meat board. It turns out, it is served in to-go containers even though we were eating there. I thought it was a waste of to go containers and decided not to support that type of behavior.Overall, it wasn't a bad lunch. But I left still kind of hungry.
But beyond appetizers, everything was delicious! We ravaged the pasta menu, choosing all but the pork pasta (and that was only because my two friends are essentially pescatarians). The uni pasta with shaved tuna heart was creamy and flavorful. I'm still not sure I can tell you what tuna heart tastes like, but the overall dish was great (though maybe a lot to handle). The spaghetti with fish roe was INCREDIBLE. The sauce was lightly spicy, incredibly delicious, and very memorable. The spaghetti was also cooked perfectly. The lemon squid ink pasta was tasty as well. The lemon worked well with the squid ink, and the pasta, fregula, was like nothing I had seen before (it was cut so small that I initially thought it was a grain).
I give out quite a few five stars, but the Pasta Shop deserves all 5, if not more. We had the Italian, fried chicken, and Cali Club sandwiches and damn they were good, like SUPER good. In fact, I’d go back tomorrow too so I can try the meatball sandwich. Of course, what goes best with sandwiches… beer! The Temescal Pilsner was delicious. The atmosphere of the Pasta Shop is adorable and team working was delightful.
Great sandos. The roast beef was really good.
$20 for a bland prepackaged salad that comes in a plastic box. No thanks
I love the new incarnation of Salumeria! Amazing sandwiches for lunch. To-go pastas are unbelievable- make Michelin-star quality pasta at home! Great selection of interesting wines by the bottle, totally affordable
Ok the philly porchetta on Friday is out of this world and we got the corn tagliolini for dinner a great choice! I love the options here and the service is great. Bottom line, go out of your way to eat here! It’s amazing❤️
Ordered ahead of time, picked up and ate on their outdoor tables. Food was delicious and portions were large. We asked them to cut the fried chicken sandwich into 4 pieces! The fries were perfectly cooked and crispy!
