Thought about rating 4 stars, only because they do not offer beer, but changed my mind because they recommended that we walk across the street and grab whatever we wanted from the liquor store. This place does feel like a typical NY pizza joint, right in the heart of Haight. It’s got that gritty street vibe, with amateur photos of all the celebs that have walked through the door and had a slice of their pie. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had potato pizza, though they should add some Gorgonzola cheese (or more of it). Tasty pizza, quick and convenient, no fuss. Just a good old fashion pizza joint that sticks to doing what they do best. It’s the only pizza we had while in SF, so I can’t say if it’s the best, but I will happily go back. And it’s next to Amoeba Music, so win-win.
Amazing pizza and love going and the owner is great and so is the staff
I can't help it, but Escape from New York Pizza use to be alot better!!! The problem I had was that not only was the bottom crust like cardboard, but the oven they use to heat up slices was hella dirty!! I use to work at Blondie's pizza in Berkeley, (back in the 90s) and we'd would of gotten fired for a dirty oven!! But the sauce and style of pizzas still good-- the four stars is for nostalgia and the pizza sauce..
Our late night spot! Amazing crust & really affordable.
One of my favorite pizza spots in the city period. Anything slice with fresh garlic is always killer.
This is one of the best pizza places I know. And I'm not from the US. I'm from Argentina, a place known for its great pizza.
Great pizza at a good value. Their slices are very large and quite good! They used to have more locations but I'm very happy when I can get to this one on Haight Street.
The mushroom pizza lacked taste. Surely not better than NY style pizza in NY which is better and cheaper. Good service. No toilet.
This is by far the best pizza in the area. There are some spots in the city that can compete, but if you are around Haight and need a late night meal or just love pizza; this is the place to go. The staff is friendly and fast. It is a small building so I have never eaten in there, but it always has good vibes.
