We used to order takeout here VERY often in early 2000s when we lived in ParkMercedWent back in 2015 ?and then got the chance to ride out to West Portal last week while in the city for a conferenceJust as great as I remembered ❤️? only thing that changed is they now have a takeout window and an outdoor parklet which are great additions. Sometimes having things be the same as you remember is kinda amazing!

It used to be good. Don’t know what happened.

Great food.I went there while growing up in this city with family ,later with friends , then with my kids, and again with my husband. The food has been delicious through my life and the staff are exceptional. It was so good to enjoy their special food and atmosphere made with the love I remember from the 60's , they have been their since 1957.

Was visiting SF. Wanted Mexican food. Place was recommended. Told there'd be a long wait to get in, small, tight place. Got there, were warmly greeted and ushered right to a table! Fun, kitchy decor, expedient and friendly staff, and the food...DELICIOUS! I highly recommend EL TOREADOR! ??

The quality of the food and preparation has declined considerably. The basic combination platter was okay, however the shrimp were hard as rocks in the camarones Verde and the sauce had almost no flavor. The sangria had maybe half the wine it used to -- mostly fruit juice and water.

This place was solid. The fish tacos were really good, and we enjoyed the margarita pitcher. Fun and interesting inside decor really added to the experience!

Best Mexican food in the area by far! Great staff. Always fast and friendly. The best chile verde. Mmm. So good.

Mistake or not, I have found my credit card was over charged for a takeout order made on 9/26. My CC company resolved the issue for me so I have nothing further. Feel free to reach out to me if you need to follow up.

Excellent dinner and charming service. Not crowded since people are still afraid to venture out? Not sure yet.

Always good food and sangria, but the paired down menu was disappointing. I guess covid-19 has hit everyone really hard.
