Destapas is our very favorite restaurant in California for authentic Spanish tapas and paella! We just got back from a 3-week trip to Spain and have to say that the food at Destapas rivals any excellent tapas place in Spain (and we tried many).Owner/chef Raul also has a catering business. Last week, we used him for an outdoor party, and the food was amazing! Guests are still raving about it. This was the 3rd time we've used Raul for catering, and whether the party is for 35 or 85 guests, Raul and his crew consistently deliver a superb and tasty meal with good service, prepared hot and fresh on site.We highly recommend visiting Destapas for a little "taste of Spain." Service is wonderful and food even better. We look forward to going back over and over again.
The food is delicious here and the service is always top notch. I recommend you try them out, great place for some amazing food and a good time out.
The best place in San Francisco to eat Spanish food. The owner was very friendly and gave us great recommendations. We had a salad to start, then delicious papas bravas with special sauce (favorite #1) and croquetas with serrano ham(favorite #2), then a chicken paella, and to close a tarta de queso for dessert that was out of this world. The owner’s best recommendation of the night was the Sindicat La Figuera red wine ? Definitely going back to this place!
Bustling little place. Food came out quickly and most was tasty enough. The large paella portion was rather small and not all of the mussels had opened up (were they cooked all the way through? No. Did anyone get food poisoning? Thankfully also no.), and the drinks were small and way too full of ice, but it was an alright experience.
Amazing service and staff. Best Spanish tapas in the city I've had so far. The paella and dessert was okay though but would go again. Def recommend the eggplant dish, the shrimp empanadillas and the garlic shrimp.
Authentic tapas you’d get in Madrid. The croquetas and the paella were amazing, so were the bravas and the cheesecake. Lots of Spaniards too, which I think tells something.
Super authentic Spanish dishes from olives, flan, tartar de queso, Iberico ham and many others. The crab appetizer dish was delicious!! So was the calamari sandwich!! Definitely a restaurant worth checking out. Beautiful modern aesthetic inside and friendly staff.
The best paella we've found in the area. Very cozy patio area- I was worried about sitting outside because it was 40 degrees but didn't even need my coat!I've been twice, tried several options on the menu, and haven't had a bad dish. Wish I would leave room for dessert sometime.
Solid spot for attentive and warm service in a charming back patio. I'd hoped for more from the food and I wouldn't want to revisit either of the white wines I tried. For an early weekday dinner, it's a solid enough spot if your priority is to have a low key dinner with fast service.
I loved the baked cheese cake, the seafood paella and the octopus. If I come back I will reserve a full bake cheesecake to go, it was that good..
