Quick eats for a simple breakfast. Great menu. Great quick service.

We had delicious meals, and the portions were huge. The service was terrific and the food was pretty fast. We’ll definitely go again

If I died without reviewing this place, shame on me. It will always snd forever be the only deli in the world to me. If you don’t understand that sentence, you don’t get David’s. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere OK, could use a little tune up maybe but it’s the conversation, the collective love of David’s that makes me weep. When you go, everyone, every stranger becomes intimately connected through food & time & journeys….you know that little toothpick they always put through the sandwich? That’s humanity. That’s David’s.

So after a couple of years of isolation, I'm back coming into the city every now and then and decided to visit one of my old eating haunts, David's. It still offers some of the old stuff from its more ethnic days. And the portions are fine. But some of the staples are gone as are the pastries. They even closed the side dining room. Staff was pleasant, but I suspect they're not paying enough and turnover is often. Counter is still there. That's where you should sit anyway. I had a lox plate. I was here for breakfast. But if you come later, maybe try the goulash if they have it. Also check the hours. It's not the 70's anymore!

A lovely place to start the day, with good coffee and jazz music

A cute vintage place worth great service and delicious food

David's has been around for 70 years (a friend's mother worked there decades ago). The ambience is perfect, with bar stools and wraparound seating, plus booths. The menu is replete with great breakfast and lunch choices. I had 'eggs Nova' (omelette with smoked salmon) and it was very good. No potato pancakes or sour creme, but will forgive them on that. Coffee, as everywhere in SF, is overpriced, but endless cups. Cost was close to $25 which is pretty steep for breakfast in a diner. But good on them to keep up an iconic deli.

Super slow service coupled with overcooked eggs makes this place not so great. The server tried but clearly was overwhelmed. I know we all want to give the benefit of the doubt, but when the eggs are overcooked and crispy, and items are missing from the plate, we have a problem. Look..it comes down to whether I think it was money well spent or not...it wasn't so 2 stars. Go to Pinecrest diner instead- you will have a wait but the food and service are worth it.

Place seems discombobulated. I ordered a Reuben to go thinking how long could it be. Took forever, lots of people asking to order and wondering where there food is.Not sure if it’s staff has been impacted by Covid but overall the place just seemed like they don’t know how to run a kitchen.I always wondered how this place was and finally took a chance. If you’re nearby the Pinecrest across the street is consistently and hands down a better choice. Perhaps in time this place will turn it around. On the good side it was clean.

A couple of doors down from our hotel & just what a diner should be. The breakfast menu was extensive & good value for money. The food was very good & tea was made properly in a pot, not a cup of hot water & a tea bag! Hooray! Definitely recommend it.
