The atmosphere is pretty laid back, good for large groups or just yourself with a book. So that's nice. But their overall selection and quality is really poor. For a place that specializes in bagels, they don't have many unique or interesting options for them or spreads, 98% of which you can find a version of in any supermarket. I especially found their cinnamon raisin bagels incredibly bland. Their regular cream cheese tastes really sour, almost like it has gone bad. They also tend to shut down the espresso machines 1-2 hours before close, if they're not outright broken on some weeks.Their desserts are good if you get there early enough. Past noon and you're likely to get a crunchy, dry version.
While expensive, this place is very much worth it. The bagels are so homemade, and they're delicious. Best bagel in SF hands down!I will say, something very weird about this place is their cream cheese. I've spoken to plenty of people about it, and I'm not the only one: the cream cheese is grainy, like goat cheese. It's such an uncomfortable mouth feeling, it doesn't taste right. I swear to God, it's the only thing wrong with this place. I'm tempted to bring my own Philadelphia next time I go, I kid you not. The cream cheese is whack, and I don't get it. They need to change their supplier, thats not how cream cheese is supposed to be. It's not right bro.The spot itself is awesome, great for sitting down to work for a long time. The little gift shop is adorable, so San Francisco, I love itWeird cheese tho
Went here on a Sunday morning. The atmosphere was lovely -- large, open space with great spots to work or hang out. Unfortunately, it might have been the worst bagel I've ever eaten, and the cream cheese was even worse. The cream cheese (we got plain) in particular was so bad, my partner threw out his entire bagel. Kind of like cottage cheese? It was bizarre. Unfortunate because the spot was so cute! I'd come back for coffee only.
- open concept area with upstairs seating, saw people working on laptops- great vibes and cool interior design finishes. you can watch them make the bagels right in front of you- everything bagel: toasted well and a solid bagel. i’m not a bagel expert but enjoyed.- scallion cream cheese: pretty good but expected more flavor from the scallion, would try the jalapeño cream cheese next time
I’m not sure I should tell you about this one. I’d like to keep this little gem to myself. None the less, this place has a great cortado and pretzels. I’m especially fond of a great German style pretzel. I tried the everything pretzel and wasn’t disappointed. The secret here is the upstairs area where you can relax and enjoy the coffee and check your email for a bit.
A great neighborhood breakfast spot, with wood-fired bagels made right in front of you. Their bagels have just the right amount of crunch, with a nice assortment of spreads and toppings.A place to start the day, or get some work done, while watching the bagels rolled by hand.
Bagels are alright, particularly heavy use of poppy seeds, but that's preference. What made this place lose stars was the awful cream cheese. It has a terrible texture that resembles ricota cheese and had 0 creaminess to it, basically just a powdered mess. Did not enjoy my bagel until I scraped off the cream cheese.
Best bagels in SF .... Honestly the best bagels to me of anywhere. Can't go wrong with the BEC worx sandwich on the bagel of your choice. Fresh squeezed orange juice is great too. For the cream cheese the scallion horseradish cream cheese is so bomb! The cheeses are made by Daily Driver as well so the butterstase cheese is a definite must try as well, comes on the BEC. They've got three locations so plenty of opportunity to try if you're in the Dogpatch, at the Ferry Building, or Ghirardelli Square.
I heard such good things about DD and I couldn’t be more disappointed. The bagels:- good texture but are so bland I honestly think they forgot to add salt to the dough- are much smaller than an average bagel- have a few molecules of schmear- a single cucumber slice cost $0.50- a single slice of tomato cost $0.50Safe yourself $30 and go to Safeway.
