The plates were wet as they were placed on our table. The utensils were dirty. No knives given, only fork and spoon. The chicken Tikka masala tasted like creamy tomato soup with chicken placed in it. And literally only had 5 small pieces of chicken. The only reason for 2 stars are the tandoori chicken and the green sauce (chutney) we had to add to make the food remotely tastey.

I love Indian food and have had many dishes from many different restaurants, including authentic ones overseas. This restaurant left much to be desired for me. The naan in particular wasn’t at all palatable for me.

I had the naan, tandoori chicken and lamb chops which were great. The shrimp masala was not all that for those with a Desi palate. This place won since Pakwan was too busy and we were on foot coming from the parade.

I admit I have a difficult time picking between the trifecta of Pakistani food on this street - Shalimar, Chutney and Pakwan. But I really come to Chutney for their Tandoori fish, juicy chunky fatty basa steaks that just hit the spot.

The best Indian spot in all of America! Unfortunately, it's in one of the worst neighborhoods in San Francisco but fear not it's so worth the walk from your parking spot. Been going for years and have never been dissatisfied. Authentic and amazing food!

If you like indian food I dont think you can find any place better than here to go BUT it is not clean. Honestly is not even bearable! I wish I ordered to go! We ordered masala sauce, garlic nan, lamb biryani and fish tanduri fish! The taste was amazing! All food were super good and the price is more than affordable. I deeply wish they were more clean!

Chutney offers fresh, and super tasty Indian/Pakistani foods in casual dining atmosphere. You'll enjoy dinning here if you're looking for food quality over fine pricy cuisine.

If you eat authentic spicy Pakistani/Indian food. SKIP this place! The food does not taste like what you expect. But if you are afghani or Tajiki you will like it. The food is mild. I give it 3 stars because it’s not like the Indian dishes you would expect. Nihari isn’t Nihari. Chicken tikka is too sweet.

I got the Mutter Paneer and the sauce is oil, straight up oil, not oily, JUST OIL. Disgusted. Not to mention the hard, rubbery paneer. Naan was burnt and tasted like lighter fluid. Also I asked specifically if the samosas come with chutney and the person said yes– I get home to eat and look in the bag, no chutney. Such a sad meal, no wonder the cooks were all dead-eyed staring at me while I waited for my order.
