Guess this is now my favorite Izakaya in the neighborhood! Tiny and full of characters, I love it.The waitlist system is not very reliable but hey who cares, just one bite of their food and all the waiting is worth it!We tried a couple of signatures, and our favorites are sizzlers and little ocean. Wagyu skewer and shiitake mushroom skewer really stand out from the skewer set—I’ll probably get individual ones next time.Service was great and you can hear chats and laughs coming out from back kitchen. What a vibrant vibe!I’ll keep coming back for sure.
Small intimate setting with lots of snack sized dishes for sharing. We came during happy hour so there weren't too many people. The sake was average, the food was quick to come out, price was very high for the portion (e.g. $20 for 2 skewers of fish). The octopus lips was interesting to try, though I wished it was better seasoned. The texture of fried dishes was heavier on batter and very saucy. Overall, great place for vibes in the Mission!
Love this little gem! Luckily I didn’t have to wait too long; came early on a Saturday. Appreciated the server/host who was super attentive while she could get to us; never rushed us even while things were hectic, gave us honest recommendations, and anticipated stuff we needed before we asked for it.Everything we ate was a delight; about six dishes and couple cocktails and dessert ran close to $200 for two. Love this izakaya; highly recommend
14 seat small operation restaurant with a lot of character. Come early to put your name down or you’ll likely have to wait quite a while. Very friendly staff though a bit frantic and very delicious food! Extensive menu and everything is delicious, including their pineapple beer! Gave free potato salad and fruit dessert which was a nice surprise.
We were here 20min after opening time and waited for almost 1 hour (four tables ahead of us); however, this didn’t matter because the food was absolutely amazing! The amount of attention and care put in cooking the food can be sensed immediately when the food was served. Our favorite: chicken skew, asparagus skew, ramen, and all the sashimiRecommend you make reservation 1 day prior to come since the place is small and there’s a constant 1-2 hour waiting line if you just drop by.
This place is a must if you like izakaya! Small space; it is like an yokocho alleyway spot. The decorations are so eccentric! Very affordable and friendly service! We came when they opened on a weekday and 3 out of the 6 tables were already seated. Good things are popular and worth the wait. The menus are big! There are so many options! We got many items and were very full; spent about $50-60 per person. Definitely must have the chicken meatballs, Salted Egg Kabocha, and Mentaiko Aji tama.
I was surprised to find such great Japanese food in the mission. The vibe here is really cozy. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The karage and okonomiyaki we're outstanding.Be warned that it's a very small place, so definitely get a reservation if coming at peak times. It's also a little bit on the pricer side, but I think it's worth it.
They need to implement Yelp waitlist :). Don’t come at 6:30-7:30 without a reservation on a Saturday night. We waited an hour and a half outside! The food was quite good though. And they gave a small free potato salad and little dessert. I got a some melon drink, really good!!
Super great service.Their food is great. It’s recommended to hang out with couple friends. But make sure you arrive early because they don’t have much seats.
Very personable and honest establishment. My friend and I tried ordering their tsukune (meatballs) the first time we visited and the waitress recommended against it since they didn’t taste fresh enough that day and suggested that I come back and try it another time.Yesterday was that time; I had made a reservation for 6:30p for an anniversary dinner but when I arrived the establishment closed for Wednesdays. It must’ve been a last minute decision since they left a personalized note for me on the door which I found very sweet and sincere. My father is a cook so I understand how much work goes into working at a restaurant. Working every single day sounds so exhausting that I’m glad the chef can finally take a break!A++; I’m happy to see this establishment is looking out for the well being of their staff!
