The best views in the city.
Views are nice at the top, but the bartenders leave a lot to be desired. Many more places in SF to get a good cocktail and conversation.

This place is phenomenal. The staff make you feel right at home, the food is great (limited menu, currently, as they transition toward full capacity), the views are amazing. They have a great selection of drinks and the patrons are honorable veterans with the best stories!
Found this place on Tripadvisor. Was a traditional somewhat old fashion steakhouse in central San Francisco. Good food and service, nice view over the city but felt somewhat left in the nineteenth!
The Leatherneck is located on top of Marines Memorial Club and offers a fantastic view, one of the best in San Francisco. There is easy parking nearby and access not only to the theatre district but the Marine's Memorial Theater itself, located right on the premises. On the menu, try the steaks of course, that is what the place is well-known for. Wine list was limited but good selections, we particularly enjoyed the pinot noir. Service was attentive but not overbearing. A live piano bar makes for great accompaniment without being the main event of the evening. Dress was on the upper end of casual which seemed appropriate for the classiness of this historic building and its traditions. All in all a most enjoyable evening enhanced by watching the city lights come on across San Francisco as well as over the bay in Berkeley and Oakland.
It was a great restaurant, good variety, reasonable prices and the best choices. As good as any name brand steakhouse or even better. In the Marine Memorial Hall, might stay next time I am in town, centrally located. Only 2 tables at lunchtime but good service and the crab cakes were as good as you can get.
All we can say on a positive is it has nice views across city. And as for the title just think of Andrew Sachs in Fawlty Towers as your server. We booked this for a special occasion and received the worst service we had for May years. The starter we ordered was a dismal crab cake that was basically thrown at us. We then received a salad lacking the cutlery to eat it. We searched for staff but they were allusive and when complaining to the greeter, only one available, we started the excuse avalanche. The server blamed the kitchen for being slow, we pointed out providing cutlery was a basic requirement to eating. Then a manager made so washy excuse and all the time our table hadn’t been cleared from starter to bar drinks. The mains arrived and by this time we weren’t expecting much and guess what we got was average steaks but they were large. All in all our special night ruined by incompetent staff and very mediocre food.
This place is a surprise and a gem! Located on the top floor of the Marine Hotel. The views are spectacular. The ambiance is wonderful with beautiful piano music. Very romantic atmosphere. The bar area, if you have to wait for a table, is comfortable. The steak was very good and the biggest surprise was our bill. Two steaks dinners with a couple of drinks - $110. You can not find this deal anywhere else in San Francisco.
