Bday dinner
Loved the food, service was impeccable. Disappointed by the wine list-no bottles under $60. Main dishes were way overpriced. Otherwise great experience would go again.
Always exceptional! Best Italian in the city. The food, service and vibe never disappoints!
Limited knowledge on Wine menu and pasta was mediocre. Great salads and pizza! Unclear what the 10% house charge is for or if the service staff receive any of it.
Delicious food! Not opposed to extra fees to contribute to better wages but I think 10% fee is higher than I would have ever expected
Amazing as always! Eggplant parm was delicious!
Food was very good. Able to share plates, family style dishes. Waitresses have been able to accommodate 9 people table. Music was a little bit too loud and due to the large number of people we had to order pretty fast the drinks and the food. The burrata/ prosciutto plate does not come with bread â¦
The wine selection, the food, the staff⦠everything made this a wonderful experience on our vacation
Pizza and service was great, but not super impressed with the pasta. Great night out with friends and pretty great menu for a night out
We were excited to try.Che Fico with out of town guests. I made a reservation, which required a credit card. They called the day before to confirm, and also encourage jackets since we had an outdoor seat, which I thought was quite nice of them. So far, so good… but then it went south, We arrived for our 7:30 reservation and proceeded to wait for 20 minutes for our table. It took another several minutes for our server to greet us. When he did he asked if we had never been, and we said no, and asked for his recommendations. All he said was that everything was shareable, and he recommended 8 items, and then he started to rush himself away. We stopped him and place and order for the two pane offerings and asked to sample wine. About 8 minutes or so later the bread came, along with the wine samples. The focaccia was incredible, but the toasted ciabatta was literally just five little pieces of toasted bread, nothing more. We thought it came with “rustic ‘butter’” but apparently that was an add on, which was very hard to discern on the menu. But we thought… why wouldn’t he have asked us if we wanted butter with otherwise plain Jane bread? We waiting probably another 10 minutes and had to get up to get his attention. We ordered wine and two pizzas, and the wine came via another server out after about another 5 minutes (keep in mind, we’re now about 45/50 minutes since arriving and are just now getting drinks). To his credit, our server showed back up with a mea culpa offering of what was like a risotto cheese stick. It was pretty good, not my favorite, but it was food — at this point (about an hour in) with just a little bit of bread to share we were starving. The pizzas came in about 5 minutes apart, and both were very tasty. We got the Margherita and Salciccia, and both were really good, but not the best I’ve had in SF in terms of brick oven pizzas. But, rock solid. We ordered the spinach lasagne and the pasta amatriciana next, then overhead a server at the next table explain that the lasagne takes the longest and recommended her party order that first. We didn’t get that same memo! So, about 15-20 minutes later the pastas arrived. The amatriciana was excellent, and the lasagne was tasty, but over cooked one side so the noodles were hard to cut and the cheese on that side was much drier. Finally we ordered dessert and tried the tiramisu and the caramel gelato dish (starts with a B if I recall). Both were tasty, but the caramel one was outstanding.Overall, I’d say it was good, but rev service really left much to be desired, and we left at 9:45 (on a 7:30 reservation) namely because we spend most of the night waiting — for our table, for our server and for the food to come out. Che Fico gets lots of hype, but weighing service, food, price and overall experience it’s probably not a place we’ll return to again.
