Pretty decent Thai takeaway. Flavors of the noodles were great, texture of the noodles are pretty good too. Could see myself coming back whenever I crave Thai food.Prices are quite reasonable too!
The food is good, don’t get me wrong. But the service is trash. When I’ve dined there, the food servers aren’t really cognizant of who’s been waiting to order and for how long. And when I order from UberEats, they will sometimes forget part of an item. I ordered a seafood pad gra pow one time and it arrived with no seafood. I also asked for utensils and it didn’t have any. The food is great, maybe a tad bit overpriced, but it’s just really too bad that when you have such good food, the service is completely amiss. It’s really like they have zero training in customer service. Sadly, I just don’t think I can go there or order from them anymore. What’s the point when there’s no human follow-through?
Good but not excellent. Papaya salad unique and awesome (and very spicy which they can tone down). The Duck/eggplant/peppercorn specialty dish was unfortunately disappointing.
This place was added to our visit-again list. Three of us left with supper full three tummies but still hunger for more. Nam Kaow was in Appetizer category but it was very filling because it was filled rice and lao sausages. It is very different from any other asian food. I love the crunchy from the deep fry rice ball and peanut, the right amount of acidity that made it go well with cilantro and lettuce. The papaya salad went very well with the rice vermicelli. The stir fry flat noodle (Chow fun) is filled with basil made this variety more flavorful.
Just Order fried chicken spring rolls and they were dried out, hard and burnt. Definitely don’t recommend ordering these. So crunchy and hard, Not edible. You cant even tell what is inside the spring roll. Soooo mad I just wasted my money buying these
This restaurant is by far one of my favorites, it should be more valued and pricey for the amazing quality of the food. It’s Definitely considered a hidden gem in San Francisco in my book.
tried it the first time it was mediocre. gave it a second chance it was WORST. ordered the special sticky rice and served a mess of wet rice looked like a scraped leftover with unidentifiable radioactive liquid mixed in. I wii NEVER EVER STEP NEAR THE establishment again ( and they charged $60 total for the junk plus 1 beer). Lucky I ordered a Heineken
the last 2 times I went there, about 2 years ago, the food was definitely below par. Unfortunate because I love Cambodian/Laotian food. But I was there 2 days ago and they are back in good form. The food as good as their other place in Oakland.
FOOD:The best Laotian/Vietnamese fusion I have ever tasted. This is a must-visit place even by Vancouver standards, the supposedly Asian food capital of North America.Their pho is great value for all the ingredients packed inside (I have never seen that much) the rich, thick broth that puts all of our pho places to shame. There is only one bowl size but that was enough to fill me up because of how much there was.DRINK:The Thai iced tea I got was not overly sweet, and they give you the milk on the side to adjust to your taste. The drink was almost like liquid version of butterscotch pudding! It goes perfectly with the pho to balance out its greasiness and savouriness.INTERIOR:If you want to have private discussions or an intimate setting, look elsewhere. The wide-open floorspace means you see and are seen by everyone dining. But don't worry about keeping up appearances; the restaurant is laid-back so I would come in with my sweatpants anytime just so I don't worry about my pants being too tight when I'm done eating.
I remember when they first opened and everything was great. I order from here once in awhile when I'm craving Lao food and don't feel like making it or going to the East Bay.Foooood:- The sampler is always my go-to but the Lao sausages were not good (need more spices) and the Nam Khao was underwhelming and didn't taste fresh (always skimping on the som moo too).- The Lao-style papaya salad was dry and just so plain. I love when it's juicy and dark but that wasn't the case here. It's always so inconsistent.- The pad thai was also dry and didn't even come out hot. The noodles were also still a little hard. My partner ordered duck with it and they gave a very small amount and in the form of tiny pieces of chopped up duck.Overall, food prices have gone up while quality has gone down. I probably won't be coming back anymore because I know it's not a reliable place for good Lao food.
