The crab soup was surprisingly good. My wife enjoyed the clam chowder as well. And my daughter loved her tomato bisque. All the soups were good. The bread was sourdough but not the kind that has to prove itself to you by tasting like a straight lemon died inside. Just a slight sourdough flavor, very pleasant. The location is good and large enough to seat a lot of people. The wait staff was attentive and nice. We'd go back here for sure if we were visiting San Francisco again.
When in San Francisco you MUST visit Fisherman’s Wharf where you must try the seafood AND their sourdough bred, and Boudin is THE sourdough bakery. At their cafe you can either order take away on the ground floor or have your meal in the bar or the restaurant on the 2nd floor. The menu offers sourdough bread based dishes, drinks, etc. We tried their pizza, a crab dish and a goat cheese toast. It was all delicious. Will come back!
I wanted the breadbowl but felt like the chowder might not be the best because it’s a bread shop, not a seafood shop. I ordered it anyway and so glad I did! It’s super good, not fishy smelling/tasting or overly salty. The sourdough is so good it almost feels like little dumplings with every scoop of it from the bowl. 1 lb Loaves to go at $5 is super reasonable too so I definitely grabbed one.
Stopped for brunch. Enjoyed really fresh and tasty sourdough bread and had a delicious clam chowder bowl. This was the best we’ve had in town. Also had a breakfast sandwich and waffles. Daughter did not care for the waffles. But I guess that’s not what they are known for. ??♀️ SF staple. So glad we stopped.
Service and food was great! We met up with a family member who is not crazy about sourdough bread, usually, but really enjoyed his grilled cheese sandwich. I can't believe I ate my whole soup bread bowl, and tomato soup. Got some cinnamon rolls to go for the next day on the road.
We arrived in SF early evening after taking Caltrain and the trams to our hotel on Fisherman's wharf. Unfortunately the hotel reservations were mixed up, we had to get another hotel and were looking for a restaurant at around 8:30. It was mid week and we discovered that most of the restaurants in the Fisherman's wharf area close at 9pm during the weekdays so that's the first thing to consider. Maybe this is a COVID/post COVID thing but I don't ever remember restaurants closing so early in SF. Anyway we found the Bistro Boudin and even though it was late they seated us and the service was great. The menu was good with a lot of variety and our food was also excellent.
The order was taken at one end, we where second in line, but by the time it got to service (at the other end) there was a slight mix up.. but the food was delicious and well worth it
Absolutely loved our meal here last night. The bread smell as you walk in was incredible. I prebooked by phone and asked for a window seat upstairs so I could see Alcatraz and they gave us a great table by the window. The food was lovely and the bread was so fresh! 100% worth a visit whilst on the Wharf!
We placed an order through UberEats. One of our sandwiches and the two lemon bars were missing from the order. UberEats only refunded us $7. I called the restaurant and they told me that they couldn’t do anything about it and we would have to deal with UberEats even thought they (the restaurant) are obviously at fault for not packing those items. Won’t be ordering from here anymore.
Nice place, with some view onto the San Francisco Bay. Quick lunch before leaving San Francisco. Me: Angel hair shrimp, my wife: salmon club sandwich. Both of us: Budweiser. At the end: beignets with ice cream. The angel hair had a bit more tomato according my taste, but otherwise tasty. Quick service, pleasant place. Desert fine.
