Pork bun, pork sausage, and dessert were good. The entrees were mediocre. Way overpriced for what you get.
Nice new Filipino spot. Drinks are great here + small bites. A bit pricy and don’t love the in-hotel vibe
Came here for my partner’s birthday. Cute, modern Filipino vibes. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful. Would recommend! We ordered:- Veggie lumpia: incredible! Nice and thin crispy fried layer and yummy sweet sauces- Sisig fried rice: such a rich deep Smokey flavor, delicious- Beef heart skewers: the tomato sauce w was amazing sweet compliment- Big fish (forget the name): beautiful presentation but too sweet for us, overpowered the natural flavorWould give 5 stars except this fish, the most expensive dish, wasn’t great.- dessert: chocolate rice pudding; you have to get it!! Simple but flavorful and comforting. They gave us a free macaron with a candle. Also delicious!Great cocktails: turmeric drink + some sort of slushee
a fine dining filipino restaurant that has just the right take of modern without straying too far away from traditional cuisine. all of the dishes were tasty and well presented with some must tries! a little on the pricier side but we were stuffed by the end of it.- service was friendly and servers were knowledgeable about each dish. there was a point where it was hard to get their attention but perfect otherwise- cocktails were outstanding! i’d come back just for themfoodthin cut pork: their take on pork bbq sticks. thought this was one of the weaker dishes lacking the extra sauciness from the classic dish. still good but doesn’t compare to the original.longganisa: loved the egg yolk sauce and dish flavor overall. the sourness of the vinegar contrasted well with the savoriness of the meatsquash fritters: perfectly cooked fritters. just the right amount of crispness and salty flavor. must get!pork steamed bun: well executed pork belly bao. the meat had a good tocino flavor but would try something else next timesisig fried rice: the best dish of the night! i’ve never had sisig like this and each bite exploded with flavor. this is what i want from a modern filipino restaurant and they delivereddrinkspyanggang sour: probably one of the best cocktails i’ve had in the city. great if you like sours and egg white cocktails. the matcha on top was a nice touchdessertchamporado: a little too experimental for me. the base champorado was great but didn’t really like the mint sauce poured on top
Abaca does a modern take on some Filipino classics. Menu is a bit pricey even for the Bay but great for a special occasion. Service was so friendly and the dishes were tasty.
We’re thrilled that we came to Abacá tonight and that the only seating was at the bar! The cocktails and food were incredible. Spencer was a wealth of knowledge about the bar and dinner menus, the origins of the restaurant, and Filipino food generally. A meal here is a must during a trip to San Francisco!
We had a great experience at Abaca. Although crowded, the host was able to seat us within a few minutes. This was nice because a reservation is usually needed on a Saturday. The service was great and the food was even better! Every dish we ordered was tasty and more of a fusion style. Everything was presented in a unique way with different flavors. We had the crab tamale, Java rice, butternut squash dumplings, chicken inasal, and the pork steam bun. Every single dish was delicious. My friend particularly loved the tamale. We were very pleased with the meal.
I liked that despite the location in a hotel, this place stood out as its own restaurant rather than a hotel restaurant. I enjoyed all their cocktails but given the types of flavor profiles, it was suspected that they would be more sweet than I prefer. The entrees were more enjoyable than the desserts. Reservations are necessary
We were guests at The Alton, decided to stop in for a night cap after our night out. It was busy with locals, which is usually a good sign. Drinks and service were outstanding. We came back in for breakfast, shared the Filipino breakfast. SO DELICIOUS and the portions were huge. As I said, we were able to share and we had leftovers. We also ordered an ube and coconut pastry that was also incredible. We will be back.
I’m here for elevated Filipino food!!! As a Filipino, I felt so proud eating at Abacá.The food was delicious yet not too complex that it became unrecognizable. I knew I was eating Filipino food. There were hints of nostalgia and familiarity in the flavors Chef Francis Ang used. I tasted the saltiness of bagoong in his bay scallop pancit. His sweet potato purée reminded of a sauce my mom would prepare for fried fish—racking my brain for what that was. I could tell that he understood and respected the identity of our food. He knew how to work with it and make it into something new. I look forward to going back and trying his other dishes!Service was impeccable. It felt like they had a smooth process for expediting food in the kitchen. Everything came out fast or right when we wanted them. On top of that, our server was knowledgeable about the food. My partner and I enjoyed interacting with them.Thank you for last night! We’ll be back.
