Refreshing! I had a bit too much fried food the past few days, and this caught my eye, as it seemed to have some vegetarian (possibly vegan?) options. I tried the noodle bowl with marinated tofu (3x protein) and a boozy boba to go with it.The tofu had a great flavor and texture. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. They provided Sriracha on the side to make it as spicy (or not) as your heart desires.I loved the boozy boba. It's horchata, rum, and tapioca balls. What a refreshing way to get some time near the bay!
Wanted to give it a zero rating. Wasn’t possible. We took a bite of each of our dish and that was enough. The reviews are right, might be as much as a step up from a TV dinner. The veggies were literally still cold from the can. The noodles weren’t edible. The rice was mush. The orange chicken and kung pao chicken, just gross. The beef bulgogi looked like cat food. Worst of all? Over $60. Save your money and time.
We thought this place looked good, and it had some good reviews. It's incredibly standard stuff, and some dishes don't even match Panda Express. Our theory is that it's getting good reviews from tourists who don't know Asian food very well, since it's in a cute little seaside tourist trap. Not worth our 20 min walk from the convention center.
Possibly the worst food I've ever had. Not worth a single penny's worth for this tourist charge rate. Almost as bad as paying for food in an amusement park. Never trust a food place that includes salt and pepper in the utensils. Didn't even finish the bowl, I only ate the protein because I had only one meal previously. The BBQ pork and teriyaki chicken are way too sweet. Veggies are canned. The boba is bland definitely not worth almost $7. Threw so much of most of the food away we almost wanted to ask for our money back. Left the table feeling sick as if we had a large stone in our stomachs. Bad enough to leave a review. Go to the Mexican shop next door.
I approached this stand with much excitement for the noodles to come. The photos on the outside presented food rich in flavor with lots of variety. Was bummed to receive what I could best describe as a step above a Lean Cuisine. It wasn’t bad by any means, it just wasn’t worth paying above a frozen meals price. The veggies wouldn’t surprise me if they weren’t fresh, and the flavors were flat. Guess it did the job of making me full!
Not a great experience;Despite positive reviews, food was pretty bad: Meat was cold, noodles, rice, and veggies were similar to those found in microwave meals. Bao buns were soggy and sour. Sweet potato fries were the only redeeming item.Food came out fast, at least.Might have been a fluke, but would not recommend.
The pictures of their menu items posted outside Tuk Tuk make the food look fresh, delicious, and possibly authentic, but this was not my experience. I ordered a bowl with noodles and teriyaki chicken, as well as two baos. Was disappointed to find that the vegetables they use for both the noodles and the veggie bao looked and tasted like frozen veggies that were simply reheated and tossed in. The noodles were mediocre and the portion size was smaller than I'd expect for the $9/$10 price point. The only delicious part of my order was the BBQ pork bao, which was flavorful. In general however, the food reminded me of a microwavable meal.
This is hidden place with in seaport village cafeteria / eatery square. Follow those blue noodle waves, to find it. Baos, bowls, noodles, Asian style BBQ. Tofu is must try. Baos are super soft. Good protein selection for noodles or Bao's. Healthier than any other in that eatery square. But it's missing the Asian style spice kick in the taste. Their spicy sauce is like jam spread. Would like to see spicy fried rice or some real spicy sauce for noodle bowls.
Tuk Tuk Eatery is new to Seaport Village. I love their concept and all the options they have there. They have starters, bao buns, bowls, sweets and boba. They have so much variety for you to choose and make your own bowls. You can choose your base, protein and sauce so you can customize it to your own. One bowl we tried was the Mandarin Orange Chicken w/ soy dressed noodles. LOVED the noodles. I did also like the chicken but it was sweeter than what I personally like. It was a great flavor and balanced out the saltiness from the noodles. We also go the beef bulgogi w/ quinoa and brown rice. LOVE that they had a healthy option. My two favorite things were the BBQ Pork Bao Bun and the Tofu Starter. LOVED the peanut sauce with the tofu. It was nice and crunchy on the outside and soft/fluffy on the inside. I definitely recommend trying out Tuk Tuk Eatery! The owner, Pepe, is super nice also. I will definitely be back.
Asian fusion eatery with great bowls, plates, drinks and appetizers - gotta get the wings, tofu, spicy peanut sauce, waffle, beef bulgogi - I.e., one of each
