Best pastels I've ever had. Seasoned so well. Meeting family in Aug and will take them to Tropical Star. Can't wait.? So good

Love this place! The best for grocery shopping for all your Caribbean needs! Also great homemade meals made to order! Your Caribbean home away from home.

Can only talk about the customer service with a lady that works there. She was ringing me up and during it, a regular comes up and since that customer was in a hurry the lady completely stopped my transaction so that she could charge the lady instead. Just disrespectful and not valuing my time as new potential customer and on top of that kept calling me señora which was a bit irritating. I was really looking forward to a the new spot I discovered but won't be returning due to her lack of customer service skills

I can’t believe I grew up in Clairemont and didn’t know about this place until about 2 years ago! They have Latin food from different countries but what always brings me there are the Colombian empanadas! I think they have 2 or 3 different types of empanadas but after comparing all of them, these ones are my favorite. & It comes with a delicious sauce to dip them in.I usually order pick up but they have a cute seating area that looks tropical themed and they also have a store with Hispanic items on the side where the register is & go for pick up.

Feels and tastes like home cooking! Living in Cali and being from Peru and South Florida, trying this place out really took me back home. Sweet, polite, honest people cooking the food and giving you great service, you cannot beat this place. We order the Cuban food and it’s always delicious. It’s always soooo good. They have a great selection of stuff in their store as well. Items you can’t find anywhere else. I already ate one empanada in the picture and ate some of the food in the plate, it was too good to wait lol

Really happy to have found this place. It's a small kind of specialty store with different hispanic items you can't find at regular grocery stores. This is one of the few places I've found that has a few familiar puerto rican items/dishes. It's not soley Puerto Rican though. I believe it's a mixture of different Latin American cuisines. There is also a restaurant/kitchen in the store that closes at 6:30pm

I’m always looking for a little taste of home and this place delivered ! The food was delicious and the staff were some of the most hardworking , kind people . Highly recommended you try this place outGracias por todo !

The death of a Dynasty. When I moved to San Diego 17 years ago, and was told that there was a Puerto Rican restaurant nearby, I was elated. The food then had Sabór.Today the restaurant looks the same, sells the same products in its store, but the food has truly gone bad.I have never had pernil that was grey. The rice & beans were old, the plantains were reheated in a microwave. It had no texture, except that of strained baby food. The only reason I know for a fact that it was reheated, was because I asked and it was confirmed by the young lady at the register.I won’t post a picture, I left, not willing to accept a refund, they need it to get someone back to the island to remember the roots of cooking. It must be fresh, not refrigerated/ frozen then reheated.I’m sure we’ve all watched Gordon Ramsey, reminding us that you can tell fresh from frozen. Please go back to the old way, you’ve lost a customer and a Puerto Rican at that.

I am disappointed. I was looking for Puerto Rican Cuisine and since I was at this Restaurant years ago, the food, was really good, with the Puerto Rican flavor and lots of variety from our cuisine. I went just before the Pandemic and the service was different and the menu was mainly Colombian and very little from my Native Puerto Rico. The young lady, the Puerto Rican's daughter was no longer there. I did not see the old man from Puerto Rico who established the business. I was going today, but took a look at the menu and figured I need to look elsewhere for a genuine Puerto Rican Restaurant. Too bad ??

I’ve loved this place since 1998. What more can I say except go here. I love the New York Bodega style market
