My family & I came at around 10:30. The host was a bit rude at first. I told him 9 adults, 2 children. He said about an hour wait which we were okay with. Once called, they had set up a table for only 9 people which wasn’t that big of a deal but when we brought it to their attention (respectfully, as we recognize we were a larger party to accommodate) we were met with rude comments and stares from the host. The host even laughed. It came off as VERY disrespectful and unprofessional to us, but two nice servers were able to get us an extra table and two chairs without any hesitation. After this, The food and service was great! We ordered and the food came shortly after, everything was accurate to what we ordered and delicious! Overall, we were satisfied with our experience. The reason for the three stars is more for the initial disrespectful behavior of the host. The rest of our experience redeemed this place for us though!
A family friendly restaurant that focuses on breakfast. You would think with the name, the look and the menu items this place would have to be known for a Mexican dish but surprisingly enough, if you're here you have to try the French toast. Both my partner and I ordered both of the French Toasts they have available, one was the classic and the other which I had ordered was a variation with banana, cream and caramel. The taste was great but a little off if we are to call this French toast. It was more of a softer banana bread with whip cream and caramel. Now again while still good, was not my favorite and I'll be passing on this one for the future. My partners French Toast was DELICIOUS though, so if you have to pick between the two, stick with the traditional. You can't go wrong with the classic French Toast.
Here it was, my last day in San Diego. I had eaten a lot of great stuff. It was one amazing restaurant after another. And this was no different. The Mission I had identified as one of the best breakfast spots in the city, so here I went. And it did not disappoint. Located in probably what the locals call, "the young kid, " part of town, all the doors are open, and the sunshine shines right down on you as you're deciding what to eat. This place had one of those rare menus were every single dish sounded like an absolute banger. I had to resort to asking the server for help. And my suspicions were confirmed. I ordered the Steak & Eggs (Grilled CAB Steak + horseradish cream + rosemary potatoes + grilled rosemary bread + scrambled eggs). The steak was cut up in cubes. You know what that usually means, overcooked, tough steak. Not in this case! Juicy, tender chunks of charred deliciousness. Very impressed. On top of Mega crispy potatoes. With fluffy eggs. Crusty bread. This dish had everything, and I am very glad that I got it. You should get it, too.I also got to sample the Mission Rosemary (Crispy rosemary potatoes + scrambled eggs + tomato + scallions + rosemary bread) (Add two strips of chicken sausage). This was also really good. All the secondary components of the meal were here, the potatoes, the eggs, etc. Then they added the chicken sausage. Which was nice. They were plump and juicy and very flavorful, making up for the inherent blandness of chicken.Overall, this restaurant was a banger. If you're thinking about coming here, and you read this review, come here. There's a lot of breakfast competition in San Diego, and I carefully chose this place for a reason. So good.
Such a staple breakfast joint in San Diego! The Mission is absolutely, positively one of the best breakfasts you can enjoy in SD! Even though not pictured...their French Toast is probably the best you will ever have - homemade bread with the perfect amount of cinnamon! Their burritos are top notch and same with their turkey sandwich (also not pictured ??♂️). Really cannot go wrong with any item off the menu you choose to order!
Definitely the best place to get breakfast or brunch in San Diego! The staff is very kind, and it’s very clean inside. Their food is to die for, I’m a steak person so me being me, I got the steak and eggs and at first I was skeptical because most places I’ve gone, their steak and eggs aren’t very good. But once I had a taste of The Mission’s steak and eggs, I was soooo glad I got them. It was amazing!! The steak was cooked perfectly and the flavor was so good, and the potatoes were great! Their grilled rosemary bread tasted amazing, it was soft but also crunchy which is how I always like my bread, I was impressed with how well all of the food was. I’ll definitely be coming to this place again the next time I visit San Diego. I recommend this place to anyone visiting San Diego who are looking for a place to eat, it’ll definitely be worth your while!
The food here is fresh, natural and delicious! They surely have one of the best cappuccinos in San Diego as well. If you value good coffee, the one used here is of the highest quality, no acidity whatsoever, and the milk is real. Service was very good. We felt well-fed and light.
There were a lot of delicious options here for breakfast. I was torn between a few and ended up with the chilaquiles. It was a little soupy but I wonder if that was on purpose to soften the corn chips. It was ok but with so many options I’d try something different next time. Good service. I’d go back and give it another try.
Great service. Our server was Jose. The menu has some unique items and the traditional stuff is good - like the avocado toast. With beets … yum.
Great Food, great soup, great service, great location go to the ocean after the meal and consume the view
From out of town and it was my first time trying The Mission. SO DELICIOUS! Everything was so tasty and hit the spot. Definitely will come here again for future trips. Recommend checking it out
