What a great market for deli sandwiches, beer & wine.If you are near Balboa Park, and need a snack of lunch or even a Cigar, this is the place for you. They have a full deli with a great selection of sandwiches you can order or have custom made. They have frozen meals to go as well as homemade soups.Staff is friendly and parking is tight.A great place to go shopping for your local market fare and for the convenience and selection the prices are fair.
Always love coming here! They are always slammed so ordering ahead is a good idea and worth the wait. Because they're always busy, their customer service isn't always the focal point, it's making the food. But they aren't rude either. If you meander around the store, you'll find all sorts of fun drink selections and snacks or chips to go along with your sandwich!
Made to order sandwiches. Lots of choices with the ability to customize. Pizza as well. Great spot to pick up a bite and go picnic in Balboa. Taste that this place is not busy. They offer call in orders too.
Best place around to get a great deli sandwich. Great variety of drink choices with craft sodas, ginger beer, and kombucha. Perfect spot to stop for a quick lunch to go.
Perfect spot to find almost anything. If I ever need something from a store and I'm not sure where to find it, I try here and usually have good luck. Some fresh produce is available but it goes fast. The deli is the stuff of legends. Good variety, always fresh, and tastes great. Obviously gets busy around lunch so plan accordingly. There are a few parking spots but it's in a parking problem area so allow time for that too.
This place is great, the people are great, the sandwiches are great, and the grocery selection is way better than I expected. We were traveling and The Market Place was such a welcome change to the tourist stores we had been to before. Oh yeah, the have parking!!
The sandwich is king here. Great spot to pick up lunch before an afternoon visit to Balboa Park where the food offering leaves a lot to be desired. Grocery items are priced at a premium; I suppose it’s necessary to pay the rent and I don’t mind supporting a small business. Looking forward to trying the soup. Cheers to delicious meaty sandwiches (get the Ruben - it doesn’t disappoint).
We visited San Diego for the weekend and found this gem of a market. It quickly became our go-to place for breakfast and lunch. Great food and super friendly owner and staff. I've already recommended it.
Well it was so unfortunate to receive such dismal service at such a lovely little market.I would think they would be more pleasant and provide their customers with a good experience, because everything in this awesome little store is way overpriced. But I did like the items and they had everything I needed. And I like the brands that they provided as well. But, again, I could have spent half the money if I would have went to Ralph's. And it's not like this place is convenient either.I was out walking around my neighborhood when I discovered this place and I thought I'd check it out. Well it seemed pretty busy and the place was really clean and they had a pretty good assortment of fresh food deli items as well as popular brands. A few people are ordering sandwiches and then there was another counter where you could pay for your other groceries. So, I grab some tortillas that look like they were maybe homemade or local, a can of beans (which was really overpriced) and a specialty item which was some local Rose lemonade. I can't wait to try it. But when I got to the counter to pay for my items, the young woman was not friendly, not smiling. She was unpleasant and dare I say rude. Yes, I said it she was rude. She hastily rang up my items and then left me to bag them myself with the items sprawled over the counter. Not a thank you or a smile. She moved to the next register to help the customer behind me. But that's okay I can bag my own items. I don't have a problem with that. But like I said it was out of my way it was way overpriced and the customer service was poor I can't think of any reason why I'd shop here again. I won't be back.
It's okay.Ordered a beefeater and asked for it on rye. The lady at the front suggested a "French roll" as it's supposedly there most popular and its also a "large sandwich". I unfortunately agreed to try it.It was like eating a bread sandwich, extremely disappointed with this suggestion, should have just stuck with the rye.If you go to order just stick with your gut and stay away from suggested options.
