Went here after seeing an older photo showing a happy hour, it appears that has gone away now. No big deal we wanted to try the place anyways. The vibe and atmosphere was great, very cool spot. We both ordered mai tais and the short rib tacos. The drinks were great! The tacos left a lot to be desired, both in size and taste. Service at the bar was pretty slow. For 2 drinks and 2 orders of tacos with tip it was really spending, and we ended up going someplace else to fill up and grab some more drinks. I’d recommend this place for some drinks but skip the food and expect a hefty tab.

?? fun place, great food, STRONG drinks!

We stumbled upon the Grass Skirt, and so glad we did! More upscale than other things around but unpretentious. You walk through what feels like a secret door into a full on tiki bar with very cool interior design. Our drinks were interesting and delicious - good beer and cocktail selection. The server we had was great- friendly and knew her mixology. Highly recommend if you want to get away from the regular tourist stuff near Pacific Beach.

We didn’t have reservations, but in right away. It was fun atmosphere, amazing food and drinks. Our server was very friendly and did an amazing job.

Fun speakeasy with awesome cocktails! The atmosphere is awesome and our waitress was super nice. We ordered 2 cocktails and the Lava & Ice had fire on it and it was delicious. The only problem was we tasted the lime (where the fire was) and it tasted like lighter fluid and made my fiancé nauseous (we thought all drinks/food had to be fully edible)

Cool place to grab a drink and they were delicious! I got a drink from the menu I can’t remember the name, but also a Negroni and it was well made. The bartender was busy, but friendly!

Awesome vibe, good food and drinks. Service was lacking!

I really wanted to go to a speakeasy during my trip to SD. I made a reservation for me and a group of friends. When we arrived, there was no one waiting outside, but then a line slowly began to form. We entered through the poke freezer and entered a booming tiki bar. We were seated at a booth and were impressed by the decor. It was pretty crowded on a friday night. We ordered a few drinks and plates to share. I got the bird on a wire and thought it was really tasty. It wasn't overly strong and was served in a cute cup. My friends also enjoyed their drinks. We also got a punch bowl to share. The roasted pork shoulder bo ssam was definitely worth sharing. The pork was really tender and tasted really good. The pad thai was a bit small. The tacos were tasty too, but not ideal for sharing. This place is fun and had really good drinks! The food was tasty, but I felt it was a bit expensive for the portion size. It was really loud though and it was difficult to hear each other (I guess should be expected though of a bar). It was also very difficult to signal our server and the drinks and food took a very long time to arrive. I would come again, but stick to just the drinks.
