This was my first time here and I must say, as someone who loves trying new sushi places to find the best deals for my money, this one has prob landednin my top 3. The quality of food was great as well as the pricing. I ordered the lunch special and I walked out of this place full, which usually only happens after a ton of rolls, I will be coming back here for sure!!!
Good sushi in an awesome atmosphere. Reggae always playing, lots of Bob Marley and reggae decor. Clever names for their rolls. During happy hour, you can get an app for $2 with beer or sake purchase.
I always love stopping by for lunch when I'm in San Diego. They've expanded, but it's still a pretty small place. I love the Sushi Roll Combos. They are around $14-$18.00 & include 12-18 pieces of 4 different rolls. That's a great price and you get to try a few different rolls that you would not normally order. The food is super good, but Summer is rolling in. They didn't seem to be using the AC on the day I was there. But I powered through.
Prices are good for decent/passable sushi if you want something casual. If you're looking for quality fish and diverse flavor though, don't let the high ratings fool you -- it's not a "must try" or even among the best in San Diego. Quality-wise it's like a great "fast food" version of sushi rolls.This isn't like a high-end/fancy date night spot, but good for a quick fix if you're craving and in a pinch. I'm not sure how this place got such high ratings lol
The older, Caucasian waitress was rude to my spouse and I am livid. It was my wife's birthday and the waitress was dismissive from the start, towards my wife and her special ordering of the sushi roll. My wife couldn't finish the first incorrect roll and stated it was wrong. The waitress had the audacity to tell my wife "let's be honest..." and made my wife feel like she messed up. I put 3 years ago that this was my fav sushi spot, but this was an experience I never want to relive, especially when I'm trying to provide my spouse with a pleasant experience. Never again. Food was fine.
The Sushi Diner restaurants are the best sushi places in San Diego! The service is excellent and the theme in both restaurants is rastafarian and they have a quirky environment with Bob Marley art all over the walls and they play reggae. The quality of the food is impeccable and the prices are so reasonable. My favorite roll is the smokin Jamaican but the baked crab roll is also good, super rich and decadent. I recommend this place to all my friends and it's a place that's special to me and my sister as we sometimes get dinner here together and both love it. Never change, Sushi Diner! We love you!
This place is amazing! I just happened upon it due to my usual place being closed, and I'm so happy I did! The rolls are huge and the prices are fair. There are many different rolls to choose from with many unique choices. They have the usual rolls like Cali, Philly' Rainbow, etc along side their more unique choices. I would recommend the Smokin Jamaican roll as it has a very interesting smoky taste to the fish, hence the name. Additionally, there's a real neat Bob Marley/Hawaiian vibe to the restaurant makes for a nice place to dine in at. Overall an amazing gem of a restaurant!

We will be back soon!We came back today at 4:55 3 tables eject we were seated. Ordered at 5:05 and told our same server from last time, going movie and wanted to get our order on.Said okay brought us water. After 20 mins & seeing many people getting their orders when seated well after us. (ever booth but us, had their order) (wouldn't any one see something wrong)I had to call her over to ask if our order was ready.instead of telling us she forgot she created the order/she lied. when I got up to see where the order was. She pointed to show me order that we saw her just put in.40 mins, and lied to us, we left Because she lied and no one did any thing to resolve it,Like sorry, right up next guys will work on it right nowYou might have too much business, but we are amazing tippers and great people.You should be ashamed of how you treated us.Our one date night ruined by not noticing that one booth had no food.3 servers, 4 chefs, 10 tables all in view.You can't make up for how you made us feel???
Best sushi restaurant we have been to in a while. I am not a big sushi fan so I had the bento box. It was huge. Great gyoza. Had the crunch roll really enjoyed it. My wife is the sushi person and b4 the meal was half over she said do u want to come back tomorrow. Service was great. We will be going there often.
Great priced AMAZING sushi. Ran across this on a trip randomly and it’s definitely going to be a regular spot for me. Great service!
