My fiancé ordered the catfish with chicken wings it also came with bread and French fries. The catfish was REALLY good cooked to perfection the meat looked really fresh. I felt like the hot sauce and ketchup that I used was well needed so maybe the fried food could use more seasoning in order to be really good without any sauce. French fries and bread was ok. Food took 30mins to make

I’ve tried a couple soul food spots in San Diego & not one has hit the spot yet like this one. I get so exited when I come here It only makes it to my car ?. I’ve only tried the fried chicken wings, Mac & cheese, red beans with rice & the collard greens and it has not disappoint ! The lemonade is in fact too sugary but I found out I can make 2 drinks for the price of one, it taste great & not watered down. Can’t wait to try out surfs menu !

The wait is worth it. The shrimp & grits, dessert, and lemonades are SO good. Was a little sad to find out a friend accidentally threw away my leftovers.

We visited on a Tuesday and ordered the shrimp and crab roll (lobster roll wasn't available), truffle fries, fried shrimp, and lemonade of the day. Everything tasted great, no complaints. They give you nice portions too. You may have to drive around some to find a parking spot but we would definitely recommend.

Just wow! We visited here from Texas and wanted to check out a black owned spot and wasn’t disappointed! We ordered the fried wings, pork chops, mac & cheese, candid yams, and red beans. Everything was soooo flavorful and cooked to perfection. The wings had the perfect crunch and the pork chops were well seasoned. The sides were super fulfilling. The meals also came with a cornbread muffin and their dessert of the day which was a slice of blueberry lemon cake. Very good! The only downside is there’s no dine-in or seats outside so we drove back to our hotel, but everything was still hot!

By far the best soul food spot in SD.. Surf & Soul you have a new fan! I came here today for the first time & it did not disappoint! That home cooked meal taste is hard to find in SD.. I got catfish, mac n' cheese, red beans/rice & the lemonade of the day. Everything was delicious AF. The customer service was on point as well. My hubby got mad I went without him so we will be back soon!Oh & that butter pecan cake was so moist & delicious I shed a tear!

This place is always packed and has a line here so I wanted to try this place out. My wife wanted to try it as well and we both got the chicken sandwich. My goodness is this chicken sandwich good! It is well seasoned, juicy, tasty and a great portion. The fries are also well seasoned and yummy as well. Everyone is talking about the chicken sandwich wars with all these chain franchises and saying which one is the best but the winner is right here!

My sister recommended this place to me and I went there for the first time yesterday. I ordered the Shrimp Basket with a lemonade and my friend ordered the Shrimp and Grits. Our bill was $40 excluding the tip. We both really enjoyed our meals! The lemon tartar sauce and hot sauce were so good with the fries and shrimp. I look forward to returning.A few tips before going -1) There is no indoor or outdoor seating, so be prepared to take your food to go.2) The food takes about 25 minutes to prepare, so unless you don’t mind waiting, call ahead with your order.3) Sides like Mac and Cheese, as well as Sweet Tea are only available on the weekends.

Love this place. The catfish plate is my favorite. But this chicken plate is bomb. And some sweet tea lemonade

The service and food is top notch. I ordered shrimp and grits also fried catfish. I was very happy with everything.
