I grew up with diners and Studio Diner is my favorite. It takes me back to wonderful memories. They have a birthday club and gives you a treat. My favorite is the Hot Fudge Sundae. Other places use choclate syrup. Great atmosphere, music, excellent customer service. I love going there.
A better- than expected experience. In fact, the decor, staff, and food- exemplified the best of San Diego.

Still DELICIOUS food and OUTSTANDING service as before they went on hiatus. We come on Friday's for their fish & chips and it is still humongous and perepared perfectly! Only open until 3pm for now, but they promised to start dinner service soon, so watch out for their hours to increase soon hopefully?

An interesting restaurant to visit. Food was good and atmosphere was great. We had breakfast there.Only thing that detracted from our visit was we were in the booth by the patio door and apparently the employees take their break on the patio. There was a steady stream of employees going in and out of that door. As it was a windy day that was annoying.
Swanky Hollywood style diner but with that old school east coast feeling. Definitely a destination with great service and awesome food! The Grip burger probably got it's name because it was t h i c k. I barely fit it in my mouth for that first glorious bite. It was so good. Cooked to perfection with juices dripping into the plate. The burger was built with the toppings on bottom and meat on top. My wife had the shrimp dinner with a chili sweet sauce and loved it. The view on the patio is also fabulous with these really cool life like gnomes.
A very nice little out of the way find. A step up from Old School Diner food. We really enjoyed everything we had except the chili - it needed for seasoning. This review is based on dishes eaten two days in a row so obviously we liked it. For those who like outdoor dining, there is a marvelous wide deck.We always look for nostalgic diners with good food while we travel; this hit the mark on both points.
After 2 years, Studio Diner is definitely back! As of 3-20-22, both their staff & hours are limited (closes 3pm daily), & they don't take reservations, so come early to get your name on the list & please exercise some patience, parking remains tight as always. I was informed hours will most likely expand in about 2-3 months before they start serving dinners, but all of the breakfast & lunch faves are being served (slightly higher prices as with everyone else), my Count of Monte Cristo Sandwich with Raspberry Jam was delicious!
Studio diner is back better than ever. Service is 6am-3pm with all your diner favorites. They have wine and beer even with a Happy Hour 12-3! Great service and a friendly atmosphere. Check it out.
