Filipino restaurant in Ocean Beach!? If I wanted Filipino food, I had to drive down to National City area or Mira Mesa but found one right off the beach town in OB and it was a great find. Fairly new restaurant is nicely renovated and feels like a small cafe. Open kitchen space looks clean and the owner chef Anna is super nice and friendly (she’s been catering Filipino food for awhile).I had The Bento Sampler for lunch and it was delicious. Adobo was moist and flavorful. The lumpias were crispy and the dipping sauce goes well with it. Noodle & rice was great too. If you are used to other Filipino restaurants in SD, you’ll notice that portions of the dish is on lighter side. Overall great experience, thanks for a great meal and good luck!
Excellent food and the guys working were so nice and accommodating. Food was so incredibly good - we were talking about when we can go back before we finished eating! We had the Complicated Betty, a bento box combo and the banana and jackfruit sweets. The garlic shrimp was to die for! Huge butterfly'd shrimp in a garlic "gravy" I wanted to buy a container of just this sauce.the lumpia's were spot on. excellentI would have taken pics but we ate it all too fast.Would love to go back but this time dine in, beautiful remodel (and I was a long time Pepe's girl), clean, bright, white, wonderful vibe.Give it a try - you wont be sorry. :) You'll be hooked.
This is an awesome cute little restaurant. New fresh clean feel to it. Open kitchen space is pretty cool and the owner chef Anna is super nice and friendly. The Bento Sampler was delicious. The lumpias are very crispy and the dipping sauce goes great with it. Adobo is very moist and not dry at allll. I could eat a whole bowl of the Pancit Bihon. The ube ice cream was delicious with the little crispies adding some texture and flavor too.The mushrooms were excellent. I just ate two mushroom dishes at two high end expensive restaurants recently and these were on par with those dishes.I will most definitely be back as I need to try the pork belly, prawns, and some other dishes as well. The Bento Sampler is a good way to try a few items if you are new to Filipino food... and it's only 10 bucks so it makes a perfect lunch.
Traveling for work and landed on this place the owner was really nice and the male staff was very accommodating. They made me food off the menu! I didn’t like the stir fry because I asked it to be cooked in salt and pepper and garlic just a simple stir fry but it came out in a brown sauce and tasted like Thai kapow. I gave it 4 stars because I had already paid my tab with the owner and when I got up to leave the staff called me out and told me I haven’t paid yet and that was really embarrassing ?. Everyone in the restaurant started to look at me like I was going to dine and dash. Not a very great experience afterwards but the
Had lunch here, this is the Opah from the secret menu. If they have the fish in stock, it’s to die for.
I'm usually on the lookout for yummy little vegan spots to eat at. I wasn't aware of Filipino curry so I was pretty excited when I found out about this place. Not full vegan but definitely some awesome vegan options. I went with the "Simply Joey" (Gulay Ginataan). It was very hearty and filling (or as I like to say, rib sticking). All the spices were very balanced. Even the texture of the rice was spot on. The portions were beyond generous. Very satisfying. Family owned and the staff is awesome. Super friendly and attentive. I can't wait to go back and try more!
WOW... I found it you guys. That small gem you've been looking for to never tell anyone about ever because then it gets too big. It's small, intimate, it feels like home.Simple menu, a good chunk of it vegetarian friendly. I like that. A small menu to me means they do a few dishes, but those are done very well. This place practices that philosophy.Had the pancit bihon noodles. Super simple dish and it was done so well. Bf had the adobo. It was super juicy and just fell apart in your mouth. My girl had the pork sisig which not only was delicious, but was the most expensive item on the menu coming in hot at a huevo crunching $12. Yeah. We paid $45 for 3 entrés, including tip. They close crazy early, don't serve alcohol and are family friendly. You don't need booze, just come hungry and with a stomach ready to be fed food that tastes like someone's mom made it
Really great spot in OB, might be one of my favorites in the neighborhood. We got the Pancit and the Chicken Adobo and it was amazing. The Pancit was delicious, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Perfect for lunch!
I came here after a long grueling drive from Philly. My brothers and I were promptly seated and greeted at the door with warm lovely smiles. My mood instantly changed and I was ready to live again.
Wow, what a delight. Delicious food, nice people, peaceful atmosphere.
