We had high tea. My daughter and 6 year old granddaughter. There were many different types of tea. I had hot chocolate. We had finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream. The waitress was fantastic.

??Great outdoor seating with decent food. Starting with the good: our server was very friendly, the decoration around the bar is authentic, and I loved the adjacent shop with all the eats and treats from UK, Ireland, and even South Africa. The relish with the scotch egg was great. The bad: I think the food is overpriced and that the quality can be better. It was tasty but not worth $18 a meal and $8 for the scotch egg. I grew up in Ireland and travelled to the UK many times to visit family so I’ve had some great fare from the Isles so this is why I think the food here can be improved.

I had gone out for dinner, but a nearby place I was recommended had already closed. I saw the Shakespeare Pub and decided to visit to see if I could get some food and a beer there. The pub was fairly full in the bar area with a relaxed atmosphere; it was not brightly lit. There were a couple of sports screens and background music and a separate seating area away from the bar that was quieter. The helpful staff found me a table, gave me the menus and I chose the steak and kidney pie with chips ( proper British style chips!) and peas and gravy and a pint of Fullers London Pride beer to go with it. The food and beer were really good. The quality of the meat in the pie was great and cooked just right. The pie was tasty and went well with the chips. The beer was remarkably good considering how far we were from the UK brewery. So good that I stayed for another two pints! That also indicates that this is a homely place with nice staff. I liked some of the signs in the pub and the older British music they played. In the end I stayed out later than I meant to and went back to the hotel happy. Very good food, beer and service at this pub; the only issue I had was finding the way in! I would have gone back again, but I went there when my work trip was nearly over. Maybe another time.

I'll never not love this place and the entire staff. Get the fish and chips and thank me later, best in all of San Diego! I grew up here , trust me :)

Used to go here often but I ate here a couple weeks ago for the first time since pre pandemic. Really seems to have gone down in quality. Of course like all places the prices are much higher now. Fish and Chips dinner and Full Monty breakfast are now $18.95. Got the former and it was the worst I've had. Rubbery fish. Portions seemed smaller. What irked me the most was the now tiny bit of tartar sauce they give now and the real kicker was if you ask for HP brown sauce instead of the bottle they give you tiny little plastic cups filled with it. It's a real shame how far they have dropped. Really unfortunate.

I have recently moved to San Diego and wanted a little taste of home. (I’m a Brit). This place did not disappoint. It felt like I was back in England. The ambience inside was very much like being in a pub at home. However it was the Fish n Chips that were the Star of the show. In all the years of traveling all over the States, no one comes even close to making this meal the same as an English Chippy. Today was the first time ever in the States this meal tasted like I was eating at the local chip shop back in the UK. Due to the pandemic I have not been back to the UK in over 2 years and have been craving this dish just like I would get at home and today I got it. Finally someone who knows how to make fish n chips just like we do in the UK chip shop. We will be back. You are my new favorite place to eat in San Diego. Thanks for giving me the taste of home.

We went to Shakespeare Pub to watch UEFA Champions League- Chelsea vs LOSC- we arrived at 10:30 am to get good seats. Service was excellent and so was the food. We ordered chicken tenders and fish and chips and Brownie Bites for desert. It tasted awesome . The place got pretty packed and we enjoyed watching the game .we will definitely go back.

We came in for lunch. Found metered parking right in front. Cool British pub vibe. Nice staff. We sat outdoors ...nice views. Great lunch specials...we had fish and chips and bangers and mash. Both very tasty. Enjoyed a Black and Tan. My son had the chicken pot pie which wasn't a special and very pricey. It was fair...the chicken chunks were too big...not enough filling and too much puff pastry.

I love this place!I'm from England and have lived in the US for about 6 years, coming here takes me right back home. The menu is great, but I always have the fish & chips, it is so good! There is also a tea room and a little 'English' store so I can buy a few of the things I miss from home ?

Went here with a few friends for some lunch. We walked, but it looks like they have a small parking lot and street parking. We tried their fish and chips. Supposedly they're really good. I'd rate them a three out of five stars. The fish was pretty big. The fried batter tasted normal, nothing special. The fries were cold and not very tasty. They seemed like they had been sitting for a while. The tartar sauce was average. Came with a small side of peas which were also average. I guess I was expecting a lot more for a dish they claim is their best they have to offer. It wasn't bad, I just won't be ordering it again. It is a cool British style pub though. The servers were nice and provided good service. I'll be back.
