This sushi is so good that you won’t want to get sushi anywhere else ever again. Chef Tim is amazing. Grab a seat at the sushi bar and savor every second.
An experience to remember. Saiko Sake and Sushi bar has a extensive Sake menu as well as sushi creations that are out the door. Delicious.
One of my favorite restaurants in San Diego. The service here alone is enough to warrant a visit. I have a very mild food allergy and the sushi bar and staff went out of their way to accommodate me. The food is always so good. Great, creative rolls with amazing fresh fish. So delicious. They were really understaffed during our visit and still made a point to be so kind and serve us an amazing dinner.
Great happy hour! Go early and take advantage of it. I loved all the rolls we ordered and the sake flights were excellent as well. I've never tried so many types of sake in one sitting. Service was top notch also.
I would consider this an Americanized Sushi spot. They have a limited specialty roll selection with nearly all of them having some spice to them, and their namesake roll Saikorama is deep fried, which I find unappealing. The only reason I would come back is their sake selection is good and offers flights, and their happy hour is a deal. However, the food itself is just okay and does warrant a return, on its own.
Smallest pieces of sashimi I’ve seen in a while and each roll fills half a small sushi takeout container. Each piece is thinner than a pencil eraser head, roughly 1in by 2in in cross section. Some were translucent. We waited over an hour for takeout (after arriving 45 mins after our order) and we were ignored by all but one staff member. Tuna was also the dark bloody kind. You’re paying for the atmosphere. You can’t knock their recipes and ingredients but we went for pizza after our tiny meal and had a much better time. Overall it was depressing..
Love the food but they have a serious issue with pick up orders. The person taking the order will say 15 minutes, on a non busy Saturday at 4:10pm. I intentionally wait an additional 15 minutes before showing up - because they never meet those given wait times - yet the order still isn’t ready. For some reason those sushi chefs appear to hate take out orders. Last time I will order pickup. It’s rude and unprofessional and a waste of my time.
My husband likes this place but I feel it’s just fine. The sashimi plate we ordered is very nice, I definitely loved the bluefin tuna in that. But the sushi nigiri and rolls here are too fusion for me which I enjoy the simple taste more which I can feel what the real ingredients are. The cocktails here are very nice, both of us like those. The price is little too high for their food quality. But again, my husband loved here very much. So different people prefer different things.
We've eaten here plenty of times. We were celebrating my hubby's birthday, and have always had a great experience, great meal. Tonight didn't start off great. We ordered cocktails and appetizers to start. We got the appetizers, but no cocktails. A server came to the table to take our order, and we informed her, that we had already placed an order, but we had no cocktails. She said she would check on our drinks. I watched her walk into the bar area, straighten a table and chairs, and proceed to an outdoor table. 25 minutes later, out came our drinks-- after round 2 of appetizers. Our server, Steve, apologized, and stated the bartender was backed up and the drinks were on the house. So, no problem. The rest of the meal and service was great. The night ended on a good note and we will definitely be back.
Our favorite sushi place in San Diego. We haven't tried them all of course but we just keep ending up a Saiko so I guess we never will. We love the Dear John and most of the others.
