Seriously disappointing ? Not just was the quality of food pretty average, starting from the pappadam being soggy, palak paneer being very tart, dal makhani (black dal) being watery and bland. But what felt even worse was the customer service. For four of us, we were given a tiny square table, despite several other empty tables around. When the food was served, I tried returning the smaller, appetizer plates to the person who served the food, who now had an empty tray going back. Her response was "the server would come and collect that". And no one showed up. We finally ate the tasteless food on the tiny overpacked table and could not pay and leave sooner than we did. For a place with over a dozen best restaurant and best Indian cuisine awards, this service and food quality is quite a bummer, nowhere close to royalty expected from a Royal India.

We had dinner there tonight and the only thing that I found negative was that their website and sign at the door said that they opened at 4:30, we went at 5:00 and did not get in until 5:30. That started us off on a negative note but we were able to recover from that although it is bad business. Once we got in, the atmosphere was very nice. The service was friendly and mostly attentive. Our food came fairly quickly. We really enjoyed our food. The spices of my dish were different than I am used to but it still was very good. I would suggest calling and making sure that they are open before you go.

Nice restaurants good food. I like the shrimp briyani so good and reasonable price.

Very nice place to have Indian food. surprisingly we got our foods very fast. in spite of few staff seen. they were efficient. décor and ambience are good. worth visiting.

Really good food. Tuğba, Turkish lady was great and very friendly with great recommendations.

What a gem this place is!!! Excellent service, clean interior, and overall just a lovely time. Conveniently located near gaslamp. I had the chicken chettinad, garlic naan, and mango lassi. The chicken chettinad was beautifully flavorful and spicy, with moist chicken thigh pieces and a great texture to the gravy. The rice was very fragrant. The staff really went above and beyond. I can’t wait to come back!

Excellent Indian food. You can opt for your spice level. Friendly, courteous service. Fab location. Value for money.

This is an okayish Indian restaurant in downtown SD. This is a very average food Indian restaurant. The ambience is not so great as they seem in pictures. The only good part of this restaurant is the location and there aren't any Indian food options in downtown SD other than this restaurant so that's the only major advantage. Food was good but the curries were oily. There are soooo many good options in LA and around and it's just disappointing to see there aren't great Indian restaurants in and around SD.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. We were here to dine in yesterday with a party of nine and we were seated right away. Once we started to place the order we were told practically half the things on the menu were not available. We then asked for a simple roti which is a staple at any Indian restaurant and we were told that the chef cannot make it because he did not have it available. To me it appeared that they basically had leftovers that they were trying to serve and not making anything fresh. In the entire restaurant there were three people working. After a little bit of back-and-forth we finally got our food and we realized we needed some additional nans when we asked asked her to bring us 3 more Nans she said it would take an additional 30 minutes. So for us that meant we would have to wait for the non-while of food gets cold. During that entire time we were there for the full two hours not once did anybody come and refill our water I understand they were short staffed but it’s basic etiquette. We finally got aggravated and ask for the manager or the owner and we were told that the manager was cooking inside and they did not have a chef. Later I also saw the same manager making drinks so basically it was one person attending to the food and the drinks. When he finally made it to us he did not apologize and just said that they were short staffed so it is what it is. He basically told us that we should have just ordered all the food at once and we should have known that placing an order again would cause major delays. Had we known that this is the type of service we would get we would have never stepped foot in this restaurant. The worst part was as we were walking out there was a father with his daughter who had made reservations to come down in there at 8:30 and he arrived there at 8:15 PM and he was told that they were closed. I completely understand the lack of having weights dive and additional folks to help out however we ate at a lot of different restaurants here in San Diego this is by far the worst experience ever.I don’t think we would ever be visiting this place ever again and I don’t think if people are looking to get good quality Indian food and service they should be going here either.

Excellent service. The food is yummy. They hosted us so well even though they were under-staffed. Highly recommend this place for a delicious, authentic, flavorful Indian cuisine.
