The food is good but definitely not the best Jamaican restaurant in town. It took ten minute to get someone to take my order at the counter, when there was no one in front of me. When I was waited on it was rushed and they ignored the person with me and I had to place their order for them. The music was good. When I came here the time before, I noticed they were rude but I ignored it because they were busy and we all have our moments. This visit, it was almost as if they were going out of their way to be rude on three different occasions during our dinner. I can put up with a lot of things, but being rude just to be rude is the last straw for me. Additionally, check your bill or else you may be overcharged, like I was. I will not be going back.

Update:I don't know if their staff are still new or under new management but they opened almost 1 hour late. There were empty beer bottles on tables left from overnight. They did not include fried plantains in the combo plates. The food was rushed and the portion size was smaller than usual. Food was not as flavorful too. It was just a bad morning to get food here.I was craving for Jamaican food and this spot is the real deal. Jerk chicken was nicely seasoned and spicy too. The beef patties were delicious. The oxtails were amazing. Food came out freshly made. I just hope they start making jerk chicken wing plates.

The food here is extremely authentic. As a Jamaican, I feel at home when I enter the restaurant and hear my language spoken. The food is excellent! I have been eating the rice and beans without additional protein because it's so good.Recently, I had a Jamaica Night event and Rock steady provided the meal. Everyone at the event raved about the Oxtail and kept asking about the source. Since I don't eat Oxtail I can only rave about the jerk chicken.

I was in San Diego on vacation and wanted to get some Jamaican food, found this place searching google maps, drive down there and I must say the food was excellent, my wife who is a great cook, gave her approval and she is very hard to please

This place definitely passes the vibe check and has the menu of an authentic Jamaican spot. The brown stewed whole snapper came in a good portion; the flavor was solid, the skin was tasty, and managed to stay crispy in the delicuous stew/juices it was resting in.. two thumbs up for that! The red beans and rice, cabbage, and plantains were decent, not bad, but nothing memorable. I'm guessing the meats are the major highlights here and the sides are an afterthought. Though I didn't try any, I'd be eager to taste their muffins and rum punch/other beverages that all looked intriguing. Rock Steady is worth your time if you're craving the flavors of Jamaica.

Who is putting peas in beef patties first of all?My mother is from Jamaica so I'm very familiar with the cuisineThe brown stewed chicken I ordered was all overcooked and blackened which made it inedible but the flavor was there. The patties were good when dipped in the stew but they were also blackened which was totally unnecessary

My wife is Jamaican, we have tried all the Caribbean/Jamaican places in SD County. This place is by far the best one, don’t waste your $$ anywhere else. Make sure to go earlier in the day however (not after like 5PM), because they often sell out of the best stuff for good reason!

The OX tail were amazing. Nice vibe to this place. Jerk chicken and slow stewed chicken was really good as well.

As a Jamaican it’s always risky finding a good Jamaican food spot but this was great. I enjoyed my food and the sorrel. Actually I’d come back for the sorrel every day if I would. Lol but I got the oxtail with rice and peas. I finished my plate before leaving so that says something because I never finish food.

I had the ox tail and beans today! It was the best I ever had! I will definitely be back soon.
