I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I went in not expecting much but came outglad that I came here. The flavor in my machaca burrito was spot-on & delicious and the Margarita of the day was it was amazing. Please give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.
The menu leaves allot to be desired. The food is great and the front end service is very good. My problem with the menu is they taken items off that don't make sense. My wife's favorite meal is the Chili Colorado burrito which is no longer available but they have Colorado plate. Also the Chili Verde plate is off menu but the Chili Verde burrito is on the menu. I'm not understanding the reasoning.
What a cute neighborhood, and great Mexican food. Everything was fresh and flavorful.
Ponce's is a very nice Mexican restaurant where me and my friends enjoy eating. I had the 2 cheese enchiladas and bean tostada combo last time we ate there. Muy delicioso!
Ambiance is good, food is very good; however, prices have gone up almost 50% in recent weeks. A lunch that was less than $20 a couple of weeks ago is now a dollar short of $30. No combination plates any more. Everything is ala cart. A fountain soda is now $4. Breaks my heart. Used to be a favorite restaurant, but I can't afford it any more.
Awesome restaurant and I love ? it here. The food is amazing.
I lived in San Diego for two years and this was hands down the best Mexican food you could ask for. It became a biweekly tradition to go to Ponce's. Truly fantastic!
First impressions are important.1. Reviews by other parties online ranged from 4-5, this peaked my interest.2. Servers/hosts initially were attentive,. However, We were served after other customers who sat down after we were. But, not a big deal.3. Food was received promptly, as for the flavor: I ordered the chili Colorado, where I was expecting chunks of beef for the price. Albeit, I received shredded beef immersed in wet sauce (had an enchilada sauce flavor), beans and rice a bit salty but not bad. The breakfast burrito I give a 4/5. Overall the food was ok.Bottom line, recommend if you are in the area. Good atmosphere, good staff, food was average. Much better places elsewhere for chili Colorado elsewhere if this is what you crave. Not sure I'll visit again.Wish you a good meal.
Hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant in San Diego. The flavor is incredible.
Chips and salsa were great, service was great. My garlic shrimp were not the best ,my plate had more oil or whatever they use just everywhere have never had garlic shrimp with this much liquid barely any rice plenty of beans tortillas were good. Will return too try another dish
