We were in town for 5 days for a wedding and stopped into Point Break Cafe for breakfast. We were happy with the nautical decor and it's laid-back atmosphere. We were told to seat ourselves and waited upon by a friendly waitress. I had the veggie omelette and my boyfriend had chicken fried steak and eggs. Both were delicious and we ate every bite, down to the last morsel of toast and hash browns. We ended up returning for breakfast every day of our stay. It's the kind of place that is fun, lively, and tasty! Plus, conveniently located right next to Shelter Island where we enjoyed beautiful walks after our delicious breakfasts. Thank you Point Break Cafe!
Coconut pineapple pancakes are really tasty. The ordering system went down after the waitress took our order so we didn’t get our meal for a long time and other tables were getting theirs. Finally the waitress let us know what happened so we were served. Never know in California what the reasons are for service situations. Luckily we don’t live here and weren’t starving. Really enjoyed the food and venue otherwise.
We have visited this restaurant several times over the years and have never been disappointed! Great food, friendly staff and reasonable prices! Will definitely come back next time we are in San Diego.
We were staying at Best Western Island Palms and wanted breakfast before our day started and had read about this cafe online with Trip Advisor. It is a bar... but in mornings it's a locals breakfast spot with friendly waitress and GOOD food. It is dark inside- no big deal- the food speaks for itself and I'd go back another morning!
Yummy delicious food ? friendly service. Ask for Ellen she was so nice.. We had the Chicken fried steak breakfast menu and a French dip with seasoned fries lunch menu. BOTH were delicious.
The dog smell was a bit overwhelming. But we rolled the dice and ate anyway. The food was good, but the service was outstanding. Just hold your nose and hope you don't eat dog hair along the way.
We went to have breakfast on a Tuesday morning, there were 4 tables occupied by diners who already had food. The restaurant is very dark and dreary and we had to walk around to find a table with enough light where we could see what we were going to be eating. We were given a breakfast menu and we ordered coffee and water. Two men came in and were immediately given coffee and had their order taken. We were still waiting for our coffee. We left, so I can’t rate the food, but service was reserved for locals who visit regularly.
Average food with many options. We were here for breakfast and the French toast plate was average. Breakfast sandwich on sourdough was a bit better. Wasn't too busy at 10 on a Sunday unless your group is larger than 4. Very dark inside and service is lacking.
A dive bar in all the best ways. Hearty breakfast fair and good cocktails. Jukebox plays old school and chill music. A gem tucked away for good drinks and conversation.
Hands down best place I've walked in randomly to eat at EVER. FOOD WAS AMAAAAAZING. Prices were great for the quality. Casual local bar atmosphere. Our server was friendly and competent. Burger was FIRE, pork chops and veggies couldn't have been tastier. We will definitely be returning over and over to try everything on the menu!
