Came here for their bento box lunch special which is $12.95 and every day is a different special bento box item.I had the miso Salmon, which comes with miso soup, salad, mixed tempura with shrimp and California rolls.I also, ordered the Yellowtail (Hamachi) Belly Nigiri, which was amazingly delicious and prepared perfectly. We loved this restaurant! Dined here to celebrate a birthday, ordered many delicious items ( sushi, chicken karaage, bowls of white tonkatsu Ramen, etc). I LOVED the honey ginger lemon tea, it was so good! Menu prices were very reasonable. Our waitress, Jackie, was awesome, she was so attentive and patient with our large party. Will definitely be back here!
So we were in San Diego for a wedding and stayed at the Courtyard Marriot. Ottoto Sushi is located in the same plaza as the hotel. So it was very convenient. They have a unique menu! It was too busy for dine-in, so we got take out. I ordered 6 salmon & avocado rolls and a specialty roll called Salmon Dynamite Roll. We waited about 40 mins for our food to be ready. When we got back to the hotel, we realized they forgot the Salmon Dynamite Roll. I called, they apologized, and asked if I want to pick it up, which I did. But I was not really impressed by it. I've had other Dynamite rolls that were way better. The salmon on the Dynamite roll was really dry. I was pretty disappointed. The salmon & avocado rolls were good though. I would definitely try this place again but I would do Dine-In to really get the full experience
My first time eating here. Its literally across from the Naval Base Point Loma Annex and it was an amazing experience! The food was VERY good, and there are a ton of options on the menu. Service was quick and attentive. Ototo has lots of indoor and outdoor seating, and everything is super clean. My waiter was fantastic, and my food came out fast. Highly recommend! I had the fireball sushi and the Red Tonkotsu Ramen.
I want to really like this place. The food looks and tastes amazing. I got the mixed poke bowl and boy o boy was it amazing. I got the Japanese beer and miso soup as well. I enjoyed all of it. The issue I ran across on my date night was the service. My wife initially ordered and got the wrong item. Ordered again and got the wrong item again. Through the night we were also fairly heavily ignored. My items came out very quick. My wife's took about 40 minutes with the issues that they had with her order. I'm not gonna eat without her, so the wait to eat was 40 minutes for what was supposed to be Ramen and a poke bowl. Again, I enjoyed my food. Although my wife got the wrong item again, she said that overall it was good.
LOVE THIS PLACE!! I’ve been going to place for a decade now. They use to have a different name. But the rolls are still so delicious and taste amazing. The service is always fantastic. The lemon roll that I got is sooooo fresh tasting and the fireball roll is so good. I wish is was a little less thick but it was still delicious tasting.
Staying at a close by hotel & what a surprise! Good sushi, great service & nice outdoor patio to enjoy! So glad I found this & will be back!
Food is okay, not the best Sushi around. Service is horrible, waited to place an order for takeout. Was told to wait, a woman dressed very nicely came in way after me and was instantly helped. So I guess if your not dressed fancy, don't bother to come here. If even for takeout. I've come here a few times as it's close to one of my job sites. But, this will definitely be the last time.
We love going to Ototo Sushi for the crunchy rolls - don't know why other sushi restaurants don't seem to sell them. As well, Ototo has great luncheon specials. Note that the restaurant is popular, and reservations are almost mandatory for weekends. We tried one Sunday at 6 Pm, and even the wait for carryout was 3/4 of an hour...
Sat outside,, pleasant soothing music, heater worked well (68 or cooler outside). Very tasty sushi rolls, all food was great. Service a bit slow and inattentive. Supplied a plastic fork... really now. Pay the bill on the servers machine while she stares at you for the tip entry... Would repeat maybe if service were better.
