Wasnât sure where to go for dinner and my wife suggested Monzu. I hadnât been here for months. Love the new menu, short ribs ravioli are always incredible. We really liked the pistachio dessert that our server recommended
This is one of the few places in San Diego where you can find fresh pasta the way itâs made in Italy. My husband and I had dinner here on several occasions and we saw Italian people eating here. Our favorite items so far are the Truffle Spaghetti and the pistachio pasta and we never say no to their tiramisu. Will be back for more!
Amazing authentic Italian food! Fresh pasta and ingredients. If youâre looking for American-Italian overcooked pasta (Alfredo style) this IS NOT the place for you, you might wanna go to Olive Garden for that kind of microwaved fake italian food. Monzu, instead, delivers only fresh, simple ingredients, just like in Italy.
Avoid this place! We came here as it was highly rated and we were looking for a nice fresh Italian meal. The waiter was cheerful. However we were sat near the kitchen and immediately greeted by a flurry of gnats/fruit flies. Then we were told they were "out of pesto" (which is basically half of their menu and what our kids were looking forward to). We ordered a flat bread, salads, short rib ravioli and tagliatelle bolognese. My daughter wanted some Parmesan cheese on the bolognese. Fresh grated? Not here.. even though they claim everything is made fresh.. the Parmesan was in a shaker. Which was completely molded inside. Of course this was realized after we used it and my 6 year old and I both ate the molded cheese. My husband went over to the lady at the register who gave us the molded cheese to ask for a new one and she was trying to duck and covertly vape as he walked up. When he came back, 2 of the gnats were in his wine. The pasta was overcooked and gelatinous, heavily sticking together. The ravioli didn't seem fresh and was mediocre. Lastly the atmosphere was weird. For such a high price point ($200 bill), I was expecting something much nicer. It looked like the inside of a fast food restaurant... with a fruit fly problem and cleanliness issues. So definitely avoid this place.. if I could give it zero starts I would. Sad we wasted our last nights dinner here when there are such amazing food options in this area of San Diego.
Best Italian food I have possibly ever had. Tiramisu was outstanding
Had the short rib ravioli with bolognese. Outstanding!
Mediocre Italian food. Friendly service and pleasant outdoor seating.
Good was great. They were not kidding when they said fast. We had all our food and was done in 37 minutes!
All time favorite Italian restaurant!! All authentic homemade pastas and amazing flatbreads to share as an app. I will definitely be back
The ligurian pesto and short ribs ravioli were wonderful. Thank you!
