The flavor and experience is there but the value is lacking heavily. While I understand the cost of goods is going up, that doesn’t make it right to cut short of value. This is a “regular” but small portion of Gumbo for $12.95. Flavor was alright, but the portion really took away from the experience. I was left hungry and short $15.
Absolutely delicious. I ordered the jambalaya and the spice is perfect. Not too spicy but fills the spot. The beignets are fluffy and a great finish to a meal. I'll definitely come back when I am in the area!
I called an order to go for 2 catfish sandwiches. I specifically asked if the catfish was nuggets ( cheap bellies) or fillets. I was told it was fillets cut into pieces. To my surprise it was the cheap catfish bellies. I don’t mind paying for quality but to pay $32 plus I expected a good product. If you don’t know the difference I guess it wouldn’t matter, however I do know the difference.I eat at some of San Diego’s finest and definitely will not go back to this one.
We ordered the beignets, a cup of jambalaya, the regular seafood platter(fries, fried shrimp, and fried catfish) and it was all delicious. The fries were light and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The fried seafood wasn't overly oily and the batter was nice and crispy. It was still sizzling when it arrived to our table. The sauce that came with the platter was also good.Service was too notch. Normally you'd expect to get all your food at once, but they waited to make the beignets closer to the end of your meal so they don't get cold.I forgot to take pictures because it was that good.Would could back here again to try the rest of the menu!
My husband and I were really craving some Cajun food. My mom and that whole side of my family is from Louisiana and we’re both from Texas so it’s something we miss living out here. This place blew us away! I had the crawfish etouffee and it was packed with crawfish and had the perfect amount of spice to it. My husband had the gumbo and it had a dark roux base and the sausage literally melted in our mouths. We both got out own fried catfish plates and honestly it was so much fish we could have shared one! It was worth getting two orders though because it did eventually all get eaten!! It was so gooood y’all. 10/10 would recommend and we will definitely be back.
If you haven't tried this place yet, the food here is PHENOMENAL. We had the shrimp platter with cajun fries. The standalone flavors were great, but the sauce really brings the entire dish together. It was so good, that we dug in before taking photos. We'll definitely be back!We came close to closing time, but the owner still took our order. She took the time to chat with us about Louisiana and her business— a very inspiring woman!
just fine - not bad but not amazing. good seasoning on some of the dishes, and desserts are alright. Would eat here again if someone else wanted to but wouldn't be going back on my own. also pretty expensive for what it is
Delicious!!! Split a poboy and three side dishes with my mom. The shrimp poboy and the gumbo were my favorite of all. ? Everything was tasty and flavorful. Will definitely be back soon! 10/10 would recommend
I wouldn't consider this the best Cajun food but it definitely hits the spot. It's pretty much empty, so your going to have a quiet lunch or dinner. Parking lot can be packed but park on the right side of the building.
I was skeptical. I’ve been disappointed so many times. I made them show me the bread they use for po’boys. Looked good so I ordered a shrimp po’boy. It was spot on with all the New Orleans flavors you would expect.Plus the young man in the front of the house was extremely attentive. I highly recommend this eatery. This is a stainless steel and Formica place so come casual. And don’t forget the bread pudding!
