Great Thai place to dine in by yourself or with colleagues/friends. Good ambiance and food portions are generous too. Great service by staff. Everything I ordered was tasty except that the chicken for the rice was really chewy.
Our friends brought us here because it’s their favorite Thai restaurant in San Diego. We can see why as the food was delicious, reasonably priced and portions were large. We did a lot of things to share including Ma-sa-man Short Ribs (you’ll use a knife to get them off the bone - this was my least favorite of what we ordered), Islander fried rice (really tasty and not overly fried), Lotus steamed pork dumpings (a nice starter), the mango chicken (or friend’s favorite dish - we got 2 orders for the 6 of us!), and Pad Woo S’en (thin silver noodles - we’d call them glass noodles - this was delicious). If we lived in San Diego, we’d come here often as well!
Service was great, food was good temp but I did not fully enjoy anything I ordered. Everything was 2 sweet. I would call this Malaysian fusion with Chinese and Thai influence. I did like the satay but the peanut sauce was really sweet. Drunken noodle was sweet and didn't have the flavor I was looking for. My husband did enjoy his hot duck panang curry.
Ordered $70 worth of delivery on items I’ve bought before. They added $5.99 to the cost of the Duck Noodles Soup when I asked for extra sprouts, green onions, cilantro & bok choy - which they gladly provided for free in the past. I think they were probably upset because I asked for the duck in the soup to be fresh because in the past it’s always been old tasting duck. They put in fresh duck but with all the fatty skin on it! I have covered the lid with all the fat that I couldn’t eat. Seriously?I also ordered the Chicken Satay which comes with “cucumber relish” which was literally a few minced pieces of cucumber that you couldn’t even use a fork to pick up. Mostly syrup. Ridiculous for the costs!!I used to love this soup as it always settled my stomach when I was ill but now will find another place. Fortunately Thai restaurants are everywhere nearby & they just lost my business.
Our favorite place in SD for Thai food. Best drunken noodles.
I wouldn't eat here again. Nothing special, especially for the price. Food was sub par at best. Server was friendly. The drinks weren't stand out. Food is most certainly overpriced. I would recommend eating elsewhere, to be honest.
Favorite Thai food I've ever had. Not sure why it's taken so long to write a review. Been eating this for years and every now and then try a different Thai place throughout San Diego to see if there's something better or at least as good. The answer is always no. Lotus Thai is always a wonderful treat of a meal. Nice inside. Good for a date night or a large group. Great for takeout too. Our favorite are the noodle dishes. I like the downtown location but this one just seems to nail it every time.
Incredibly kind and accommodating staff for takeout orders. The estimated it would take 15 to 20 minutes but it definitely took 10. Delicious food my wife and I loved, would recommend and will be returning.
Pretty good place, only thing need more servers in the early day.
One of my favorite Thai places in the city. The real deal. Staff is always kind and checks each order I've picked up. My family is a huge fan of this restaurant.
