The food was delicious and the place is beautiful. It was great for date night. However, the service did not match the place. It was possibly just our server, but as a first time customer it did not leave a great impression. Hopefully next time we go we get better service.
It was ok. The food wasnât awesome exceptthe beef tataki, the beef was wonderful, the seasoning on the tataki was just goodl. They have no bread or anything to start you on while you wait. The Tom collins and the vodka ginger drink of the day were excellent. The kale salad was good but a bit dry and the flavours were fine but a bit boring. The sunchokes were a bit chewy and one note with the salmon. And the sea bass was under seasoned and the veggies werenât really complementary. It was all just fine but nothing really great.
I think the restaurant had a case of the Mondays when we went. Service was marginal and the food wasn't up to par.
Unique and interesting menu ranged from traditional sushi to a pork shank. Baja oysters were outstanding. Great selection of Sake.
Great night out for dinner at Lionfish. Very lively, crowded and popular place. Good bar for a pre-dinner cocktail. Food was lively and interesting, sort of a California Modern and Sushi House combo. Everything was correctly prepared and nicely plated, and it all tasted great. Fun place to go!

Chef at Lionfish knows what he is doing. Our family had a truly excellent meal there consisting of some very surprising taste combinations, not one of which was anything less than superb.
I had a 4:15pm reservation and the server took my order shortly after I was seated. She did a good job checking in with me but there must have been an issue in the kitchen. It took around 45 minutes to get my meal and all I ordered was an entree. Although the food and presentation were good, it was grossly overpriced even for San Diego.
Amazing service, food and ambiance. Our new favourite in San Diego!
