I got the oxtail dinner last night & it was DELICIOUS! Such soft tender meat (and a great amount of it) with juicy perfectly cooked plantains, flavorful beans & rice (not dry at all like at some places) and perfect salad! One of the best meals I’ve had this month. 5/5 would recommend it to others & I’ll be back for more oxtail soon- thank you Laylah & fam! (no photos cause I inhaled it so quickly- it was so good I couldn’t stop to take a picture ha! But it even looked pretty too, I promise:)

Definitely not like I remembered, must be under new management. I don't write reviews, typically just leave stars, and go. Making an exception today. Disappointed with the customer service, packaging, taste. $35 wasted. Beef pattie, barely had beef, mostly crusts, that just crumbled. Curry goat disappointing. Plaintain stale. 2 stars for the rice and peas. Unfortunately had to toss everything else.

The customer service is terrible and the food isn't good. While I was ordering the man at the register was slouching over the counter and looked as if he did not care you ate there or not. The jerk sauce is a bottle of sweet baby rays and a teaspoon of jerk sauce. The rice is either undercooked or overcooked.

Good is great warm Jamicia feel

I was very excited to try this place as I adore Jamaican beef patties! I ordered six to-go. When I got home to feast on them, I took a big bite and they crumbled in my hands! They had barely any filling and were dry as a bone! I had to throw them all away. So very disappointed :(

I've been coming here for years, have enjoyed the food for years as of late, and recently stopped going there for the following reasons:1. The food is too overpriced for what you get, and has gotten even more expensive. They charge you $10 for a side of oxtails and only give you 3 or 4 pieces, and out of those pieces, 2 of them are small! Sometimes I would order the Jerk Chicken Dinner and the chicken would be old, or there would be a LOT rice and beans and a little bit of chicken with a side of bones. If I'm paying almost $30 for a plate and a side, the quality needs to be top notch EVERY time.2. The customer service isn't good. The people here can be rude. I remember coming in to place an order. I was never greeted, nobody said "Hi how are you doing?" OR "We'll be with you in a minute." I was met with silence and when the man finally spoke, he told me to order on the kiosk machine. I asked him if I can just place my order with him, because I prefer to just tell him what I want instead of figuring out how to operate a machine. He ignored my request and told me, "Just do it on there".3. The last time I went here, again, I was met with bad customer service. I understand that these guys are busy, but customer service goes a LONG way. I work customer service and you ALWAYS want to keep the customer coming back, because without the customer, YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS. After standing there waiting to order with no interaction from the workers, I walked out.BE BETTER.

I came here when I was visiting my son who is in the Navy. He suggested we eat there and I was not disappointed at all!!! The food was so good and the flavor was on point! I didn't expect the Mac n cheese to be that good but boy was I wrong!! If you want that good authentic Jamaican food to greet your taste bud, this is a place you have to try.

I paid $24 for an oxtail dinner and they only gave me 3 pieces of meat. Small pieces at that. Prices used to be $15. For this increase in price I shouldn’t just have rice and beans.

First... I found this place while reviewing another Jamaican spot in SD. The review said this place was the best in the city so my husband and I went to check it out.? This place, hands down is the best Jamaican food I've had in SD since I've been here.Tucked in the corner of a strip mall across the street from the Navy base, you'll find a man, his grill and a passionate support system. This food is made with love and you can tell. The jerk chicken is the BEST! Perioddttttt. Tender, flavorful, large portions. Rice and beans... on point. Plantains.... caramelized and tender. The cabbage be cabbaging in harmony with the seasoning.I mean, get your whole life here! It's wild because the other place we frequented, there were mostly American born people eating there. At Laylah's, Islanders and different African nationalities have eaten in there. That's a sign that this food is as authentic as it comes in San Diego. The owner is a sweetie pie. She's definitely got the right idea of customer service.LissN, just go and get yo life. ??

I came across this little gem while searching for some delicious comfort food. I read the reviews and thought I have nothing to lose. But the customer service was amazing and I ordered the oxtail dinner. They gave you a very good amount of oxtails. The price is definitely reasonable. I highly recommend you to try their food for yourself don’t just take my word for it. My food was so good I forgot to take a picture prior to eating ??‍♀️? .
