I ordered a coffee and blueberry muffin and both were delicious. Service was also quick and efficient. Tables were quaintly arranged like a typical coffee shop. Very nice atmosphere.
We have an acai spot at home we love. We've tried other spots and they just don't compare. We're out in San Diego this weekend and had lots of overeating and drinking. Wanted something filling but not heavy and found this spot. Glad we did. It is really good. Not watery, not too thick, just enough sweetness and the toppings are just enough. And the acai bowl is not made with yogurt which is a great thing for me. Not to mention the portion is just enough. Def would go back.
Love me some Lani!! I found this gem the last time I was in San Diego for a conference and live coming back whenever I'm in town for their awesome acai bowls and a coconut latte. Nice friendly staff and relaxed tropical vibe make it a great place to get some peace before the next conference presentation!
I'm giving 2 starts because if you don't have a good costumer service, you have nothing. I have been in this café for two occasions and in both occasions we had an unpleasant costumer service. They were bitter and treated us like we were asking things for free with such a bad actitud. We wanted to be understanding that people sometimes have problems, but I don't think is right to treat other people like trash just because you are having a bad day. My boyfriend and I decided to go back for a second try because they have great coffee, but unfortunately we were treated bad again. We are not going back.
Great local place that was a very short walk from the Marriot. I ordered the iced Hawaiian (vanilla mac) coffee and the Peanut Butter Açaí bowl - coffee was great and the bowl was delicious. Made this location my go-to for breakfast while in town.
Aloha White Mocha was a bit too sweet for me but the banana flavor was worth the trade off. The breakfast sandwich was mid and had too much egg. Overall a solid place to grab a inexpensive breakfast/refreshment
I love all of their iced coffees that come with the tablespoon or so of coconut cream mixed in. I especially appreciate the warm welcome and kindness they share. This is a non-corporate, one location coffee shop, surrounding you with plants and warm colors if you're looking for a change in scenery from Starbucks. Also a great spot to grab a bite and a coffee before heading to the grocery store (Ralph's) or walking around Gaslamp.
Posted as one of the best coffee spots in town, thought I would give this a shot. As rated by a visitor to San Diego, this experience was underwhelming to put it politely.\\n\\nThe decor is cliché Hawaiian, about what you would expect I suppose. No nuance. Think 1960's Elvis Blue Hawaii vibe. Upon second thought, that actually sounds cooler than it is. I guess it isn't for me. The store is very clean, though, and I see the staff actively keeping it that way. So bonus point for that.\\n\\nFour drip options available in self-serve thermal dispensers. One was empty and three were completely cold when I arrived. I notified the staff and they brewed a fresh pot of the medium roast (the empty one) despite the fact that all need to be replaced. So, I'm now having the medium roast drip, freshly brewed, which tastes exacy like what I can get from the Keurig machine at my hotel - not great. I think I'm tasting old coffee and the thermal dispenser needs a good scrub.\\n\\nI had to ask them to retrieve the pot after brewing. I think they just got busy doing other things, though there were no other customer s around at the time.\\n\\nI would have liked a different experince here. I can forgive the cheesy decor, but if it is the coffee you are coming for you are better off elsewhere.\\n\\nThree stars - points off for poor experience and lack of attention to coffee itself. Added a point for cleanliness.
In summary: The iced coffees were good but the food was very average. If we came back, we would only get drinks. This place was cute and we really wanted to love it. But, the longer we stayed the more red flags we saw. They couldn’t seem to get anyone’s order right, including our drinks. It was really confusing when they’d shout out the most generic thing for someone’s order and everyone would look around wondering if it was for them. I think it’d help way more if they took peoples names and called them out that way to avoid confusion….Then the food. It was, eh. Looks nothing like the menu pictures. I feel a little duped. If I would have known what we were getting I wouldn’t have ordered it (see pictures*). If you’re not going to put effort into a menu item, just do us all a favor and take it off the menu. I know COVID has taken its toll on small businesses, but I think it’d be more beneficial for everyone to condense the menu and focus effort on a few key items so that no matter what someone orders they will love it.*Photos are of the breakfast sandwich and tiny breakfast burrito
I loved the house coffee!!
