Very good food menu. Ate there twice. Drink menu only has beer, cider, kambucha, and wine. My friend wasn't a beer drinker, they don't have a cocktail menu - but the quality of the food made up for that.
Visited twice for dinner and lunch. Ordered Grass-fed and truck burgers. Delicious. Friendly staff. Fast service. Clean and well maintained. Highly recommended.
The beer is awesome with a huge selection. The staff are more than happy to help you make a choice whether this be a beer or food. I also had two burgers (one beef, one chicken) and around 6 beers in two visits. Nothing at this place disappoints and theres a reason it's up there as one of the best places to visit for a drink and/or food in SD. Also if you're catching a game at Petco Park to see the Padres you can find their beer available.
Before other breweries in San Diego there was Karl Strauss. While I already forgot how good their beer sampler was, what distinguishes this place from others are two things: atmosphere and food. Their food is not just something to eat with the beer like fries, burgers, and pizza but rather good quality restaurant food. Today I tried their Korean BBQ Bowl with Beyond Meat. It was delicious. Their version of tiramisu made with beer is original, rich, and tasty. You want fries? No problem, but it is hard to stop once you start tasting that garlic truffle oil. The last meat dish I had there was a fish steak with a tartar sauce over a decade ago with a view of a beautiful koi pond. But I never forgot about it, because that's the experience you get with this place.
Great place good selection of beers food was phenomenal very security location hard to find unless you know it's there but worth the look. There was a lady painting koi fish is mural on the side of the building while we were there. Fish tacos were great
The staff was very accommodating with our large party and trying to get us seated in a fully shaded area. They immediately brought out water, ordering was a breeze, and food was delivered fast. My daughter had the children's cheeseburger which has the same width as my big burger, she definitely didnt eat all that. Overall a great place to have lunch with family and enjoy the nature.
It's been a hot minute since I've been to a Karl Strauss location, I can't believe I've been away for so long! The food is still as good as I remember it, and the brews have gotten even better! What they currently have on tap is great! I can't recommend Chai Me A River enough. The Windansea is surprisingly smooth for a hefeweizen.This location is adjacent to a fish pond. ??They have changed the way they operate; you sit at a table and then go to the bar to order drinks and food. A server brings you the tableware and your order when it's ready. So I imagine flagging down a server can be difficult. Be patient, I promise the food and drink is worth it.
Really nice place with lake view and good beers. You order online with qr codes which was convenient for us as 14 party! They were really fast to serve our order,It was birthday party and they brought plate and fork for us as well!We ordered burger and pastrami sandwiches with l liked both. I really liked this place and definitely recommend it.
Good beer in a great location with a koi pond. My fish and chips was ok but the other food looked better. I should have ordered chop shop chicken.
New to the area I was looking for a beer and a burger. Unfortunately the evening I visited it was 48 deg outside and amazingly the same inside. All of the garage size doors were wide open and heat was provided for outside diners but not for inside. So it was freezing, I got a wool hat and down jacket out of my car that I had for ski trips and wore it to have a $25 beer and burger. I do not agree with this outfits business strategy, order like at McDonald’s at the counter sit at a table without even a salt shaker and freeze all at 10X the price? The waitress when dropping off the food asked if I needed anything else? I had to explain that salt pepper and ketchup would be nice, apparently that was a surprise to her? So the burger was very good fries good beer fair. Pushing the button on the old fashioned soap dispenser as opposed to a modern touch less in the bathroom while washing my hands in cold water kind of goes with the rest of the philosophy of the place. Might be fun on a nice summer weekend but then it would be so crowded It wouldn’t be enjoyable standing in the line to order. I’d think twice about visiting again.
