The food is sooo good! We went midweek at lunchtime and there was no wait for our party of 5, which is unheard of for us. Service was fast and friendly. Did I mention the food was delicious? Because YUM!
Amazing service and very good burgers
Absolutely DELICIOUS burgers!!! Even our picky teenager loved it!
Hodad's didn't disappoint in it's fun and funky restaurant and staff. The day we were there, it was crazy busy. The guys working there were hustling and moving fast...all so friendly too. They ran circles around the only woman waitress there! Local beers were cold and wet! The onion rings were the best we've ever had! So hot and crispy. So so good! The burgers we had were delicious and juicy. Almost too juicy as they broke up the buns quickly! But, nevertheless...good. Crazy atmosphere, living up to the hype.
All the food was wonderful and the waiters were great. They told us the smaller portion of somethings were enough and there were right. Everything was so yummy.
I got a Guido burger when I was there, which came half wrapped in paper. When I picked it up to eat it, about a 1/4 cup of grease, juice and whatever poured onto my shirt and pants, a huge mess. Neither of the waiting people mentioned to watch out for that problem, and seemed resentful that I mentioned it. There was a huge window on the front of the store wide open with no screen so flies were entering at will. There was a cigarette smoking, overbearing amatuer guitar playing group going on just outside the store window that sounded even more lousy than the choice of heavy metal music inside. The Guido burger was reasonably priced, but add $3.25 for fries or $4.75 for fried onions, and it's not reasonably priced. When I checked my receipt, I see they charged a 3% "service charge", obviously not related to a big group mandatory service charge. I had paid a 20% tip already, and asked what that was, and the store manager said it was an adjustment for inflation for the meat, and to adjust for minimum wage. I wasn't aware there was a mandatory tip, but they pointed out that it was listed on the menu, which I had not seen when I ordered the food since it was down at the very bottom of the menu and not something I was accustomed to looking at, so buyer beware. The manager said there had been many, many people asking that have complained about the mandatory 3%, so I'don't know why they don't just changed their prices unless that gives them an unfair price advantage to unsuspecting customers. I was also afraid rust from the old and rusty car license plates all over the walls above the tables might flake off into my food.
I enjoyed the novelty and experience. The food was big and juicy just as I expected. The only thing I didn't quite like was the feeling of being rushed. Other than that I would definitely go and try out the food. Usually this restaurant has a longer wait time on the weekends so if you can go during the week that would be best. Make sure to take a sticker unlike me.
Defiantly a good burger, arrived right at 11 sat right away with a party of 8. Decor is relaxing and down to earth type place. Staff was nice, no issues, waiter was attentive and ensured our glasses were full. Definitely a spot to try if your in the area, onion rings and fries are also super good. One of people with our party got a milk shake said it’s best he has had in years.
Highly frequented local burger place with a very nice interior and extremely service orientated staff. The burgers we had where mediocre but maybe we chose the wrong one. But don’t expect the best burger ever. It’s good but there are better places in SD.But worth visiting because of the interior style
Fantastic food, make sure to schedule in time to lie down afterwards because it’s very heavy and they give you a lot of it. I have several family members who request Hodad’s every time they visit from out of town. I think if I were to go with one other person I would order one mini burger basket with fries and one chocolate malt and share all of it. I would highly recommend ordering the burger with grilled onions rather than the standard because it can be a lot of onion. The milkshakes are huge, don’t expect to finish but enjoy what you can because they’re amazing. I liked the fries better than the onion rings but they’re both fantastic options.
