Korean Cocktail Bar Karaoke
(858) 576-0700

First time doing a karaoke room experience. We ate beforehand at the bar/restaurant area so we could focus more on singing inside. All the chicken we picked out and bulgogi was good. We enjoyed our singing experience, mostly because of such good company.. getting the room was worth it, but I’ll remember certain things for the future when returning.Inside the room, the songbook was filled with 80% Korean songs, 20% English songs. I don’t understand why they would not look into a different karaoke system with more English song options, but I imagine it comes down to cost, that the Korean one is cheaper, and they don’t want to spend to change it… it’s funny because most of the staff aren’t even Korean anyway.. and all the patrons I saw going in and out of the karaoke rooms weren’t either! Change your song book and get with the times Hive! The food and drinks were pretty pricey but the rooms were decently priced. Just a little unkept, they could do with updating, new paint and such. Sort of a divey, dirty feel.My biggest complaint and why another star is knocked off, were the staff. They seem to like spreading wrong information when you ask them info about things, then turn it around and say they never said that. I think they’re so busy and slave driven having only 1 or 2 workers that they don’t even remember things they said just 1 hour before. Also, why do half the staff wear masks? Gross sweaty face diapers. Maybe the oxygen is getting cut off from their brain and that’s why they’re getting forgetful with what they say! Doh!

I’m here now. We’ve yet to run out of English songs and we’ve been here over an hour, you just have to search for them. So far we’ve had a (much better than expected) good time!! The fries and ranch are good. The only reason I’m not rating five stars is that it feels a little dirty here. Not the most visually appealing and the batteries are taped into the remote. But other than that it’s been a super fun time. I’ve never done a room for karaoke but I’ve had an awesome time here so far!!

Food is good. Mostly fried chicken and fries. English song selection is limited. Parking is hard to find. But we had fun. Ok to bring own cake for birthday celebration.

I wanted to like HIVE a lot, but I just couldn’t after my friends’ and I’s experience there. I booked 3 weeks in advance, but when we showed up, we were put into a room with no air conditioning. I really hate inconveniencing staff on busy nights, but the room was ABSURDLY hot, and the room across from us had nobody and no incoming people for the 2 hours we spent singing. When we asked if we could please have the room, we were told it was booked - Which is odd, because… Nobody was there, the whole time (photo attached). We also requested water which wasn’t delivered to us multiple times. All in all, I was charged $144 for an experience in which our room was equivalent to a sauna and we were not given what we asked for, and as much as I wanted HIVE to be my go to karaoke spot in San Diego, I just can’t do so. I wish I had my money back.

Went here for a Karaoke night with a group of friends. We did not have a good experience. First of all one, the women's bathroom lacked a front door entirely and the mens bathroom had what appears to be the door to a walk in freezer on it.Second they put us into a room with no air conditioning. When we brought this up they said they would look into it. After around 15 minutes with no one coming back we began to seek out our server. We were then told that all other rooms were booked. This would have been fine if it wasn’t for the fact that the room we could see across the hall from us was empty all night. There was no other attempt to remedy the situation other than partially comping our bill. As a side note, we had a reservation for this night at least a few days in advance.Lastly, the song options were very limited, most of the songs being in Korean with maybe 20 pages out of a 150+ page book being in English, not that big of a deal but did add to the displeasure of the experience.

Young children go to get served water and get charged for the price of patron. The pandemic must have made them desperate. They are sure to be closed down soon. No one like to get robbed like they did to us.

The place itself was dirty, I wonder if this place was inspected for sanitation, cleanliness and safety. This place need to be check specially the Karaoke rooms. 1. the floor is sticky, you can hear when you walk in the whole place because your shoes will stick to the floor. 2. the menu are sticky 3. Tables are sticky and dirty 4. At Karaoke room, if you look up the vent is all clog up with dirt and dust, This is the place that you definitely need a face mask and hand sanitizer not because of COVID But because everything you touch are dirty and sticky I can’t imagine how’s the food handling because everything is sticky and dirty in this place so we didn’t order food Karaoke machine 1. Machine is hard to use 2. Most songs are not available This is the place that you definitely need a face mask and hand sanitizer not because of COVID But because everything you touch are dirty and sticky. Please clean your place (HIVE) because you are harming the health of everyone going in there.

Fun, fun, fun! The karaoke room is good sized, held eleven of us comfortably. The catalog of available tunes is huge and kept us going for hours. The chicken is devine, excellent range of libations, both on tap and mixed. Our server made sure we wanted for nothing. Terrific experience!

This is the karaoke spot for me and my friends. It definitely does not have the cleanest or upkept bathrooms or most sanitized/clean karaoke rooms, but the staff is really nice and my friends and I always have a great time. I definitely wished they had newer english music to choose from, but at least they're only one year behind in their selection. Overall, we always go back and have a good time.

I recently booked a room for an event so I can only speak to that experience i.e. we didn't sit at the bar nor did we sit at a table and eat. It's more of a bar/club with food rather than a restaurant. There may be a lot of repeated info here as others share the same views as I experienced. It seems like a really good idea (drinks, karaoke, private room, etc.) but has poor execution. Meaning they are really disorganized (the place was only about half full at the end of the night, 11 pm) and yet, we still had some of the worst service I've experienced in a while.Bar/Food: It's a great space. They have a large variety of drinks, and a simple menu. Overall, I feel it's overpriced. Well drinks are $10 and the Don Julio shots were like $13 for 1 ounce. Also, the fact that they charge you $25-28 for a basket of chicken and then $2 for sauces on the side is a bit much. The chicken is hit/miss. Some pieces were really good, some really dry. The breading on all was great and super crispy however some pieces were overcooked, not great. Good fries.Karaoke: The room was like $175 for 4 hours. It was described on the phone as like a private room when you go out to a club ..it's not. You walk back into a maze of kegs, dirty floors, unfinished walls, etc into your area. The room is unfinished, cheap furniture, tacky decoration, wires draped on the walls and chipped paint. The karaoke system is ok. The first room didn't work so they moved us. That one had lots of feedback on one mic so we had to have it rebooted. Song selection is 75% Korean, most of the books had pages missing, were sticky, and unkept. It's just not maintained very well. I think that speaks to ownership/management.Service: The first 45 minutes were fine. Our "hostess" took orders. Came back for food order. After that, I think we saw her once or twice more in 3 hours. A busboy came back one time and took a couple of dishes but we had to bus our own tables and go out to the bar for drinks for basically the last 3 hours. Because of the size of the group they add 18% to the bill, which is fine, but that was like $100 based on our bill size and, I felt, ripped off. Absolutely terrible service. Also, there was some confusion when I booked the room as to if I had a reservation or not. Don't talk to Scott. Talk to Richard.Overall...terrible service, uninterested wait staff, too pricey, kind of dirty. The only reason it gets 3 stars is it WAS fun. That's only because we usually have fun wherever we go. Based on just the food, cost, etc. 2 stars. I won't go back.
